    UL Football New UL offense

Could someone explain the Ragin' Cajun offense to me? I didn't get to see you guys on TV this year. Is it an option attack? How does cycling in two QBs work? NCAA Football on the XBox has you using a shotgun formation with an FB and RB on each side of the QB - Is that accurate?

We are out of the shotgun I would say 80% of the time. Our offense is identical to what West Virginia runs. It is a spread option but not what Urban Meyer from Florida runs but like I said identical to West Virginia.

We didn't use a 2 QB system...Our backup Desormeaux played due to an injury to Jerry Babb our starter.

Towards the end of the season, our offense became very similar to the one Texas runs (see: National Championship game) with more emphasis on the running back. A lot of fake draws, keeping the QB in the shotgun so he can focus more on reads and less on footwork in drops. It also helped that our offensive line played like animals this year. Gave Fenroy lots of room to run and Desormeaux/Babb plenty of time to work.

I believe its more of a zone option, but most people don't know what that is anyway...

So are we going to see passing numbers more like Babb's first two years in 2006? He has to be up there on career passing lists, doesn't he?

I think so. The receivers coming along are quite good. Then again so are the running backs.

    #01) 9,216 Jake Delhomme (93'-96')
    #02) 5,447 Brian Mitchell (86'-89')
    #03) 5,267 Jon Van Cleave (00'-02')
    #04) 4,706 Jerry Babb (03'- present)

Oooh...Delhomme looks pretty untouchable, but Babb could push the No. 2 spot pretty far.

Thanks for info. You guys are classy.

maybe you can correct me here, but in my mind, as an explanation to those who have no clue what the zone option is, from what i know of the basic setup, is that the Qb keeps or tosses the ball on the option based on is the DE comes down or pulls outside, this is the common play we saw this year because they got it down and it works and most of the run plays are a variation of this play,
this is my understanding and i may be wrong

ok i feel lkike an idiiot cause i baasically described every option run in football in a general sense, but i meant to add that its out of the gun and i think its to the weak side and i think it involes all 3 people in the backfield, qb fakes the handoff to one of the rbs and then options out with the other, or he may chose to hand off to the first rb, or keep it himself all based on the read he gets off of the d-line
