To all of the student body out there, and in here,
Many, many years ago I enrolled at our university. I also became a member of the Pride of Acadiana. At that time, the Band Director, James Square, demanded that all members learn the fight song, all the traditional cheers and the Alma Mater. If he spotted us on campus or around town, he would stop us and have us recite them to him from memory. I believe this was one of my fondest memories of U(s)L.
However, I find myself saddened when OUR school song is being played, and I'm the only one near me singing the words. There is more to the college experience than the pre/post game party. And I know that I'm closer to 40 than I am to 18, but I still have pride in my school and a love for those things mentioned in the song.

Do yourself some good. Make the school proud. Learn the words to the Alma Mater of THE University of Louisiana!

The one thing I wish UL had was a unique cheer. Some type of Fanfare the band played. I know we have Respect, but something like Bama, LSU, or USC has, even Troy's band has one.

I was there with Square also, and so glad he made us learn those! I still have trouble with the Alma Mater for some reason, but evertime the Fight song is played, my wife (color guard under Square) and I are usually the only ones around us singing it. It needs to be part of Freshman Orientation or something to learn them before you can get your Grades for your first sememster or something!...LOL

Nah, keep "Southwestern" in the alma mater.

"Aggies." "Boilermakers." "Hokies." "Ramblin' Wreck." Or even people with names like 'Peanut' Tillman.

It's being proud of how far we've come.

SOLUTION----SOLUTION----SOLUTION----WE NEED A GREAT CHORUS OF SOME KIND (SURELY THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC HAS THIS)TO SING THE ALMA MATER WITH THE BANDS BACK UP---OK NOW WE HAVE THE WORDS AND THE MUSIC TOGETHER SO WE CAN MORE EASILY LEARN IT!!!!!!!!! I'm 99% sure my great-aunt wrote that song, at least that's what my ole man says. He sings that song proudly at every football game! In fact, the school/city almost named Cajundome Boulevard after her...at least that's what my ole man says.
