Default Has Thinking Out Loud been discussed lately?

I mean, it's getting very difficult to listen to. One day a week he spends 20 minutes doing promos for Lucky Deuces Travel Casino. Another day it's 20 minutes of Cajun Hot Sauce talk.

But I understand Stevie needs sponsors. I've actually gone to A Bryant's because of Steve. My bigger issues are these two problems:

    1. The constant pushing of the website. I get it, you want the page views and ad money. But all of this "Hottie of the Day" crap and "check out this video of a woman throwing the first pitch" and then having a big conversation about it? That's just too much.

    2. The girl. She seems nice. But Stevie ends up talking to her for like 5 minutes about her first movie or whether she takess her wallet out early at the grocery. It is inane chatter that has zero to do with sports.

I have changed the channel more in the last few weeks than ever before. Can we get back to sports? IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON!

Note: I'm not calling out Stevie, but this needed to be said. I'm a longtime listener, sometime caller. Just not as much anymore.

If you have a problem with ESPN1420 programming, the person you need to talk to is Mike Grimsley.

I completely understand your viewpoint. I just can't listen to most of the local shows anymore. Once you know what the major sports stories of the day are - you know what the hosts' opinions are going to be and you know which callers are going to call in and what opinions they are going to have. It has all become too predictable.

The only show that I look forward to listening to is Billy Ryckman's Sports Note. Billy may not be the most polished host (still better than Kevin Foote, who's been doing it a long time), but he prepares harder and is very good about bringing on interesting guests and actually letting them speak. However, I do change the station during the almost daily Keith Kishbaugh segment. If I have to hear that guy talk about his youth baseball coaching experience one more time .............

I know we should appreciate having so much local sports talk, but the hosts are too comfortable with their schtick and don't make any effort to improve or innovate.

Wow. I've tuned out the sports note for I can't remember how long. Incoherent Ramblings and constant giggling at one's self don't do it for me and I have no idea how his preparation are better than others. I now consider listening to the SportsNote in the same ballpark as getting kicked in the scrotum 30 straight times while watching a "Law and Order" marathon on TV. Thanks but no thanks.

UL does not own 1420 am, so I think them upgrading it will be kinda difficult.

This doesnt even mention that TOL isnt on Friday, so that lessens the percent of sports talk in a week. The Oh Brother show on now is rough.

Stevie needs to scrap Thinking Out Loud...I want Stevie P's Wrestling Roundup. Every Monday is Midsouth Wrestling Monday. Stevie would prolly be tickled pink for this to happen. As would I.

Yea, most of the time it tuning in to listen to Stevie P is like listening to a low rent local Oprah.

It's my opinion. You might agree. You might not. It might hurt your feelings or offend your sensibilities. Too bad. You don't have to like me. I don't have to like you. We don't need to be drinking buddies. That's the greatness of America. At least it used to be.

Having worked in radio for 20 years I could spend all day critiquing each and every show, but to be honest I like something about them all.

The one thing I have low tolerance for is, non proofing (or editing) of one-take (prerecorded) production.

I don't have a problem with Stevie, it's when Texas Mike calls in that I usually switch back over to News Talk.

Stevie P does a good job calling live games.... he should stick to that (he obviously is aiming for the gig when Jay retires... hopefully a very long time from now).....

His "sports talk" show (TOL) is, as someone has stated.. unlistenable (if that is a word)... He does horrible interviews (whats on your Ipod right now? Really???).. he spends and inordinate amount of dribble time (Wrestling.... his first hot dog)... then as others said he has lengthy talks with his location sponsers.... then onto the web site...

But what irritates me the most is he has NO opinion on anything that is the least bit controversial...

My radio in the am is now tuned to 1330... turn it back for Kevin and Billy.... Say what you will about Kevin but his insights are well thought out... even if you disagree.... and Billy?? well most of the time I have no idea what he is talking about but find myself entertained...

I think the biggest problem with TOL is that it's so early in the morning. There's usually not a lot of callers so Steve has to fill the time showhow.

I love to talk to Steve but my phone has a 2 minute ring limit then it hangs up automatically. I sort of quit trying on a daily basis. I think it's my breath

I can get in better when he runs the board for Making the Turn.

brother, you said a mouthful! on the "how much more horrible can it get?" meter, this is #1, and the 2 nincompoops on sunday mornings have to be 1a. utterly, ridiculously, horrible! now, there.

Yeah, those brother guys are kind of funny at times but have no clue what's going on in the booth.. don't they have producers to help these amateurs out... I mean come on, it took ten minutes this morning before someone called to let them know the callers could not be heard.. seems like radio 101 to me..
