Only 7 seniors on this year's team and most are not all impact players. There will not be much serior leadership from this year's team. A good looking group of Jr.'s and underclassmen though.

Notice only 3 underclassmen not returning from last year and one of those is Fuselier who went to professional baseball. Manning Duhon has not returned, not a huge loss, he only pitched in 1 inning of one game last year. But the one that is very interesting is Jacques De Gruy, I thought this guy was supposed to be the real deal, did he not recover from injury

Hopefully the pitching lives up to its potential and our bats can generate some runs. Can someone that follows baseball closely share a few names of potential sleepers to keep an eye on this fall?

    C - Michael Strentz
    1st - Chase Compton
    2nd - Matt Hicks
    SS - Ryan Leonards
    3rd - Jordan Bourque
    OF - Daniel Nichols
    OF - Brian Bowman
    OF - Nick Jones?
    DH - Jace Conrad?
    P - Jordan Zimmerman
    P - Chase Traffica
    P - Jordan Nicholson

Most of those should be solid. I'm dont think I will make any lineup predictions until after the FWS. There's so many new faces. This is a high level of freshmen and I expect a lot from them eventually, but we'll need a few (along with JC players) to step up this year for us to reach our goals.

I don't think bowman gets the nod against RHP. Francia is pesky, Olasin-esque at the plate but I doubt he's as good with the leather. Bowman can smash LHP when he wants a la 2010. Daniel Nichols came out swinging last year but he leveled off. I think he's a potential sleeper for RBIs. Nick Jones starts right away. Jace Conrad will play 2nd IMO. Hicks will have a lot of bullpen weight on his shoulders with all this youth. I think DH will be Strentz/Sinclair a lot. Whoever isn't catching. I think Aut makes his way into the rotation. He's gonna be a good one guys.

Leonards, Bourque, Compton will play everyday IMO. Snowden is a potential sleeper as well.

We really need these juco guys to step up in the pen. I truly believe this season will come down to relief pitching.

It's good to see Colton Daigle back on the roster. I remember him striking out the side in the FWS a couple years ago and he made it look easy. Dude has a cannon, let's hope Robe can get him under control.

Well I really think that IF t-Fred comes back healthy and hits like he's capable of, or shows flashes of his freshman year....that wi descide alot of things in the infield. If his bat plays, that allows Compton to play 1st, and lenards, Conrad, hicks, Borque to fight for the 2 middle spots. I hope nick jones swings it like he did this summer. That would be a great addition to outfield with pop. Both catchers can play....and DH. Gonna be fun to see how it shakes out. I don't know much about the other juco guys, but some will need to step in and contribute right away

Francia is an outstanding defensive player. Olasin was one of the better ones' we've had......but Francia can get it out there.

I guess we just havent had many opportunities to see what Francia can do. I know he can fly. I'll be interested to see how the lineup shakes out. Someone is going to have to step up to fill Fuse's shoes at the plate and on the bases. Leonards is the obvious candidate, hopefully he's improved his baserunning. He got picked off a few times last year.

The 3,4,5 spots in the lineup are going to be pivotal because I don't really know where the power threat is going to come from. I heard Nick Jones has some pop. Strentz can potentially be a big RBI guy too. The loss of Poirrier and Petello is big. If were gonna be a gap hitting team, like we typically are, we're going to have to run the bases really well. Leonards and Francia have to be catalysts with the SBs. As far as the new guys, Jay probably knows more than I on who's got gap power and who can run.

    Can T-Fred stay healthy?
Can Compton keep up what he started this summer?
Can Francia play a big role?
Can Bowman get back to hitting lefties?
    What will Nick Jones contribute?
    Who will start behind Nicholson?
Which of the Juco guys can step up in the pen?

    SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!

I'm more concerned with our Outfield & Pitching staff, but this is what makes baseball so great, someone steps up every year. Relatively young but talented. I thought we underperformed last year, not a terrible year but with 13 Seniors my expectations were a little higher than normal. A new year brings new hope, I’m sure most positions are open for grabs. Looking forward to the next few days at the Tigue.

In the end our pitching is usually solid. We stilll look like a lite hitting team to me.

I was there they have a few guys that really put the bat on the ball. Pitching was good at times and not so at others. Over all I think with just what I saw we will be solid defensively and not to bad with the bats. I think the pitching will be just fine.
