Default Potential Sun Belt NCAA bids ...

are taking a hit today with the loss of Western Kentucky 6-0 to New Mexico State. Florida International really needs WKU to play well in the tournament.

I do not think the NCAA will issue Florida International an at-large bid without Western Kentucky in the tournament. A Western Kentucky ? Florida International SBC Tournament final will likely earn Florida International a spot in the NCAA tournament. This is because a) either Western Kentucky wins the SBC tournament (gaining an automatic bid) and the NCAA does not need to skip over Western Kentucky in the standings to get to Florida International or b) Florida International wins the tournament and the automatic bid. The bottom line is that Golden Panther fans should be pulling for Western Kentucky to either win the SBC tournament or lose in the finals to Florida International.

But it is beginning to look like Florida International will need to win the Sun Belt tournament to gain admission to the NCAA tournament.

Yes. The Cajuns are a lock for the NCAA tournament. The NCAA is not going to take only one team from the Sun Belt. Also, their pRPI was #14 heading into the conference tournament.
