This column is to remind you that Florida Atlantic University has a football team.
It's the sort of basic information that can get buried under the debris of a passing hurricane. During the early-morning hours of Sept. 5, for instance, at the exact moment FAU was winning a landmark victory in the faraway dreamland of Hawaii, most of us were huddled here in the dark, listening to heavy branches crash like meteors on the roof and straining by flashlight to decipher the fine print of our homeowner's policies.
There is, to be sure, some catching up to do. Plywood down? Check. Fresh milk exchanged for rancid? Check. Socks and underwear either washed or purchased for the return to civilization? Check.
