Default Playing UL is a luck changer

Saturday they benefitted from Louisiana-Lafayette coach Rickey Bustle's odd decision to go for the 2-point conversion after the Ragin' Cajuns scored a touchdown with 1:45 left in the game to cut FAU's lead to 24-23. The bid failed, handing the win to FAU ...

That quote may or may not be accurate, but the bottom line is we are now tied for last place in the worse conference in the country with the same record as WKU. Our program has sunk to another level.

I don't agree with Bustle's decision to go for 2. We were outplaying FAU at the end and had a better chance in OT. At least give the kids a chance to pull it out. And, we have a 6'6" tight end that we never seem to utilize in key situations. These last 2 games are not looking good and our last game vs. ULM will likely determine if they are bowl eligible. I sure hope we don't lose to those guys. The SBC just may not have ANY bowl eligible teams this year. I don't know which is the bigger joke this year, UL football or the SBC. Pretty sad that after 9 years under Bustle, it has come to this. Also seems to mirror last year in basketball in that we have to actually fall into the abyss before any action is taken.

"The Cajuns offense had started to rip through FAU's defense once quarterback Blaine Gautier started running in the second half and if the game had gone into overtime a ULL win would not have been a surprise."

This sticks out to me from the article....sigh

I understand we have nothing to lose...other than the player's mentality of the season...but I would agree with the call if it were less than a minute to go in the game and by the way we were controlling the ball on offense and the defense was playing phenomenal why wouldnt you want to go into over time?

Its nice that Bustle is trying new tricks (even though he's a bit late for that) but man why can't he think logically in certain situations?

If we won by Moral victories we would have an awesome record.
If we won by First half performances we would have an awesome record.

Once this season is over we can regroup, get back to the drawing boards, and have one of the best Turnaround years in UL History next year. Our team will be loaded and I know we have a lot of talent. I just wish our talented team would be used correctly.
