I have a Question Academy, what city are you in?

A friend of mine sent me this clipping and info and was wondering (I'm going to paraphrase a little), if any of you happened to see Academy's sales insert in Sunday's paper?

In it, there were college licensed chairs on sale for $9.99 and they displayed the logos of several schools. UL's was not displayed, and when the store was called they found out they don't even have the UL chairs.

It's not that they never have UL chairs, they have in the past and when they are in stock they are not $9.99, they are $22. Here is the kicker though, They ran out months ago and have not reordered. WHAT? My friend said (exact quote) "Football season is upon us and they have not reordered chairs for the school that is in the same city as THEIR store? What a travesty!"

"Please call the store, 984-9868, ask for the manager, then ask what city they are located in and why don't they carry the UL chairs?"

I gave up on Academy for Cajun gear long ago.

It's my opinion. You might agree. You might not. It might hurt your feelings or offend your sensibilities. Too bad. You don't have to like me. I don't have to like you. We don't need to be drinking buddies. That's the greatness of America. At least it used to be.

I have given up on Academy and Louisiana Hot Stuff. Louisiana Hot Stuff should be renamed the Purple and Gold Palace. They carry very little UL merchandise and are considerably more expensive than the UL bookstore.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

If not known already, UL chairs are available at Albertsons.

i called and spoke to one of the managers....he don't have a clue, he tells me they ran out several months ago, well! i told him that simply don't make sense, if you are selling an item you order before you run out. i'm not going back.

i also e-mail the sadadvertiser, i haven't been buying their paper, they too don't care.

Bell's Sporting goods has the chairs, coolers, Delhomme Jerseys(Carolina), golf shirts, pennants, Caps etc.....

In defense of La Hot stuff. I was in there yesterday, they had some window stickers in stock that said "The University of Louisiana".....none of that bull____ city tag.

I spoke to the young lady about all the @Lafayette gear they had in stock.

She said that they are constantly scrutinized by the lady in chge of marketing UL merchandise.....shes (lady in chge of marketing for UL) scared of her own freakin shadow....

Before one starts judging LA Hot Stuf, we need to understand the marketing constraints UL puts on their vendors. Frankly, those at the University who head up the marketing efforts are working in the dark ages. If they would open their eyes to todays marketing strategies that other Universities employ (such as LSU), we'd see a lot more "UL stuff" and better quality "UL stuff" at LA Hot Stuf.
