    Default UL Research Budget

    2013 - $64M
    2014 - $68M
    2015 - $77M
    2016 - $80M
    2017 - $102M
    2018 - $125M (Recently announced, KATC)

We doubled our research budget in 5 years.

And this is while the Legislature is strangling us. Note the comment in the KATC article, "During the 2008-09 fiscal year, the University received 66 percent of its revenue from the state; in 2018-19, it received 27 percent."

And if I remember correctly, our research budget is greater than all the UL system universities combined.

And we were also able to double our athletic budget at the same time.

Coming from academia, this is indeed a big deal. Research footprint is everything when evaluating/rating academic institutions. I personally think it's emphasized too much but when you see 100+% increase in your institution of choice in 5 years, you take it!

    Kudos to Savoie

    McNeese: 1,467

    ULM: 2,267
    UNO: 15,939

Unless my math is wrong, that's 52,797 for all schools other schools, which makes us at 2.25 times more than all other ULS schools combined. And growing.

    Pretty eye-opening. Geaux Dr. Savoie!!!

ETA: lsu is @266, also down from their 2008 number of 280
But don't get too excited.....according to zero/zharkins and the other laturds, this doesn't really count, because it's not 'real' research money. LOL

The nursing program is second to none. My wife and daughter both graduated from the nursing program. My wife repeatedly tells me that there is no comparison between a UL grad and one from another university. Ul grads blows them away. It's nice to see such excellence.
