Westgate beat STM. Raise your hand if you saw that one coming.

It is the first time Westgate beat STM. officiating was ......poor.

Carencro beats Teurlings . 31 to 27. Carencro gets 24 points on turnovers.

Officiating was poor" is an understatement!
That was horrendous. They made sunbelt officials look like all-stars.

Well, judging by the coach from Catholic's twitter page, STM was constantly playing with 12-13 men on defense in their game last week. So, maybe it's just the universe correcting itself...

I watched Trey Amos a couple weeks back. Amazing athlete with next level speed and vision. He will need to add a few pounds, in my opinion, but nonetheless will be a solid DB!

Rule of averages caught up. Coming off a tough loss and WHS is like Cybil, don't know who'll you get. Failure on those 4th down attempts didn't help either.

When h/s sports can't find officials even after making public pleas the quality won't be there. I'm sure officials are weak, but they are equally weak on both sides.

The problem has been coming. Years back when I was on the LYSA board. LYSA would go thru the game list each weekend and have a board member at the matches where the most expert parental commentary would be on display. I cannot imagine it's gotten better in any sport. Until parents at the young age and up quit berating officials in all sports, the problem will just get worse. The mom that keeps a scorecard at a tee ball game is no different than the crazy coach yelling at everyone. Let the kids play.

Parents within insane expectations don't help either. Met a dad told me they were going to be financially set because his son was going to make millions in the NBA. After asking the obvious questions, I learn the kid was in middle school playing AAU ball. Logic you ask, he was going to be an NBA player because his team played on the Pels practice court.

As a wise official once told me, "Before you criticize me, walk a mile in my cleats, then criticize. I'll be a mile away and won't hear you".

Feels like a good time to point out that this game was not officiated by the Lafayette association because Westgate refuses to use Lafayette.

Why does Westgate get to choose which refs do their games?

Every high school gets to decide which association they use for regular season games.

Correct. Almost all schools use the association that is the closest to them.

It is also odd because Lafayette is very highly regarded as an association in the state. Routinely gets the most amount of playoff games in the state. Last year they had the 5A state championship game.

It is odd, and expensive if true. The two closest associations would be Thibodaux or Lake Charles. That's a lot of travel cost to pay.

Didn't NISH and Westgate play with the Terrebonne teams district wise a few years back? May be who WHS staff feels they have a better relationship with. No dog in the hunt, I'm not buying into the idea officials have an agenda against certain schools.

NISH definitely did, not sure about Westgate. But NISH used Lafayette while in that district. A friend of mine coached at South Lafourche back then and it was the Lafayette association when they played at NISH.
