Default Remembering "Saint" - From the Bird's Nest

There is no way I could do this man justice.

His impact on Ragin' Cajuns' athletics cannot be overstated.

I hope you'll take the time to get to know him a little better by reading this piece.

ALL of the little things you cited together do a great job of showing exactly who the MAN was. While no one ever believes they can do justice to a good MAN, you hit it about as best one can. Great job and nice to get all of these behind the scenes tid bits.

Absolutely LOVE this, Jay!! The Elder Saint was one of my favorite callers in the old days!
There is something about veteran bus drivers that are regulars with a group—we had the same relationship with ours when I marched in the USL Band in the 1970s/80s. We usually traveled with 5 buses, and our lead driver was ALWAYS a black gentleman we called "Snake." He took us all over the South, along with his partners "Country" and "Huck." Snake was one-of-a-kind, as well, and he WAS like family! I remember him driving the USL Jazz Ensemble up to then NLU for a concert....Snake pulled off the road at this little non-descript store, went in, and came back with boudin and cracklins for the bus—it was one of his go-to "spots"! Once on a trip to Ft. Walton, our bus caravan was pulled over in Mississippi for speeding, and the band passed the hat for the drivers to help pay their tickets—the drivers had tears when we gave it to them.
RIP, Saint , and Thank You for caring about your extended family!!

Love hearing about the stuff and relationships that fans usually just wouldn't know about. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like he'll be missed by many.

I know we have several posters who have a variation of saint in their screen name. Was Saint ever a poster on RP?

If I were a betting man, Saint didn't even know RP existed.

Thank you everyone, for the kind words. If you are on twitter, more and more basketball and baseball players are weighing in on Saint's passing. I found out about it when Todd Lott tweeted it out on Monday.
