Instead of UL Lafayette how about UL Louisiana?

I got the idea from the avatar ATXCajun uses, without the Texas part.

Below is a UL design I was able to create with a Custom Cap & T-shirt company on the internet. It can be edited in any way to change colors, fonts, etc. Unfortunately, the minimum quantity to order is 12.

More importantly, I like the UL logo with the State of Louisiana behind the L and the Fleur de Lis where Lafayette is located on the state symbol. It is my personal preference for the UL reference and accomplishes a number of things:

1. It associates UL with Louisiana so that it is clearly not confused with Louisville.

2. The shape of the Louisiana symbol is of an L. So, it can be argued that the UL is actually represented on the cap, without the actual UL reference. That could make this a reference that could pass any test for UL and could be an official brand of the university. With this being a university approved logo, we could then purchase these through Lids or any cap/t-shirt manufacturer which could broaden the sale of UL approved merchandise.

3. Athletically, we can associate this UL with the Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns reference and this might help solidify our national reference as UL and Louisiana. This might help eliminate the mixed message that our SID sends out regarding Louisiana-Lafayette.

4. It just looks good and clearly says who we are!

I am going to send this to someone I know in the university administration for their input and suggestions on getting this to Dr. A and Julie Dronet for review and possible approval. Maybe, this can one day be the official UL that we will use on all literature and approved athletic gear.

I would be interested an anyone's thoughts regarding the design.

Not a big fan of them, but I think they've got potential to be tweaked a little...and they're way better than what we've got now. Good stuff.
