It is much of the same product and Hud is still a coach. Maybe you were confused.

Maybe ya saying we bought a defective product? I'm thinking he sold himself cheaply. A school known as a coach graveyard coming off serious NCAA violations, still way under scholarshiped and last to the recruiting season. Yeah I'm not buying you're concerns yet. I'm still very optimistic.
Or maybe he's not saying anything of what you suggested. Maybe he's just saying that up to this point, both the players and the coaches have underperformed? You can have that viewpoint without calling for the man's head like some here have constantly suggested.

I just want our players to be in the right place every play and to play with technique which has not been the case.
    IMO, you're opinions are idiotic.

Well actually he's not exactly clear. Bad coaching, bad AD, or App great underpaid coaching, great AD.
I'm offering a different suggestion. Don't think I'm calling for his head.

Yes, really, their defense is much more talented AND experienced than ours.

We returned more starting defensive players than they did this year

As far as talent their defense is majority 2-star players with a few 3 stars mixed in much like ours so why then is it so much better not just but the majority of the belt.

These are the top 10 tacklers on the team, through the Arkansas State game.

    Srs: Flory, Exford, Hayes
Jrs: Davis-Gaither, Fehr, Duck, Cook, Franklin, Thomas
    Soph: 0
    Fr: Jackson

So these guys have been developed and coached by Nate Woody, now at Ga Tech and now Bryan Brown who was Woody's right hand man for the entire time. Scheme hasn't changed, philosophy hasn't changed.

Does App State have a better coaching staff than us right now? I would lean towards a slight yes, based upon experience. Are we paying more than we should for our coaching staff right now? Once again, I would lean towards a slight yes, but I think to change things around here, we needed to be aggressive.

Maggard may have made a mistake, but it is still way too soon to decide that. I applaud him for taking a risk though. I think it is a well thought out risk with low downside and huge upside.

I'm not saying Naiper is a failure after 6 weeks (underperfomred yes), but I don't want a team that has to lean on being the superior talent to win games that was problem we had with the last coach and the reason we got stomped by teams equal to or great than us in the talent department. We need to be a well-coached team that plays fundamental football and that is the only way we can improve our situation.

Maybe star ratings are for the most part bullsht and a way to monetize recruiting. Maybe app states coaches are benefiting from recruiting their kind of guys to their system. Maybe their rich tradition of winning attracts better coaching candidates in general. We lack speed..speed kills. You can know where you are supposed to be and when all you want, but if the guy across from you gets there 1-2 seconds faster it doesn't matter. We lack depth which also affects the guy who is a step slower a lot, as he gets tired he gets even slower. Satterfield was 5-13 his first year and a half as head coach..that includes a season in FCS...he is 40-10 since. Im sure there were tons of "Monday morning qb coaching experts" at app state that thought they made a mistake too. Hud started 6-1..our first road conference win ever as an underdog and everyone thought he walked on water. Give the guy some time to prove what he is one way or the other...5 games doesn't prove or show anything.

They have spent all offseason un-coaching the players bad habits and i would imagine still are daily...give them time.

After the first half Saturday, I thought you would find it just a tad easier.

Instead you jumped ahead to find a hurdle opponent to compare.

Damn, to think we couldve saved all that money on a coaching staff and just let lannister coach us. Geezus....please go sit down.

normally I tend to agree with several of your perspectives.. However, its becoming apparent that you have a grudge against Naps and co and expected entirety too much from a first year head coach that only had a 2 month recruiting season to work with.. The product on the filed is what Naps and all of us have to deal with this year and possibly most of next year until this years really good recruits gets signed and experienced. You can't turn a Yugo into a Porsche overnight if ever.

No grudge just not sold on him being our savior just see so much carryover from the previous staff that I though would have been cleaned up by now.
