Will this be the last year we're playing "Respect"?

    Surely it should be.

Queen of Soul died on the same day as the King of Rock-n-Roll.

    Stranger than fiction.

Bo Diddley died June 2, 2008 and Little Richard is still alive.

Wrong one of the few really good band traditions that has been around since I was a kid in the 70s. Respect is synonymous with the Cajun Fight song to many long time cajun fans.

Why would the band stop playing it? Seems like continuing it would be a tribute.

Well that album has Good Golly Miss Molly and Keep a Knockin'. By the Light of the Silvery Moon and I'll Never Let You Go are other gems on there. It's just pure energy.

Jay mentioned it earlier today on BEV, and I have to say this rocks for someone who was 73 at the time. I don't think there will ever be anyone like her.

    The Queen of Soul
The King of Rock and Roll
and the Sultan of Swat all died on August 16th.

    Royalty Day. A national holiday.
