If I recall, Allegiant was doing well here until the runway 22L/4R lengthening project began. The original runway length was 7,650', but was shortened to 6,500' to accommodate construction. That was too short for the MD-80 to take off with the required fuel load to LAS and fill all seats. The resulting lesser PAX capacity left the route unprofitable. Once the project was finished, I don't think Allegiant was invited back due to several complaints, such as leaving 30 passengers at the gate when duty-time limits were reached. Ugly scene...
All very interesting.. thanks for the info.

Btw, sounds like the DJ Basin work is picking back up, so the timing on this would be helpful to a lot of folks.

Note the last two lines in the story

"This is seasonal with flights for purchase through mid-November. If the flights are popular, Frontier plans to continue and possibly expand the program."

So it is possible that the service will not continue beyond November.

    Boy, no joke.

Ask Robe or someone on the team last year what happened when the team had an early flight out of Lafayette this past season.

Better arrive early due to the TSA's wellness exam program at LFT. There is no later flight.

    Key economic indicator.

Truck rental companies are being slammed with private label long term leases.

Are those rentals for people coming into town or leaving town.

Long term local leases at Penske and two others is all I really know.

I needed a 3 day rental at the beginning of the month and 3 different places gave me the same story.

So, people using the Denver flight, how reliable is this?

Thinking of planning a trip, but don't want to be stuck there or scrambling for alternate flights.

    go to www.flightaware.com

in the airline and flight number section input fft (frontier) and 690 for the Denver to Lafayette flight and FFT 203 for the Lafayette to Denver flight. You can search for flight history in each search result.

If you want to search airports. the symbol for Lafayette is KLFT and for Denver is KDEN.

I'm curious to hear how this plays out for you. The people I've talked to that have flown Frontier to Orlando haven't had problems. It's no frills, but it gets you there.

My wife and I used frontier to fly to Orlando in December, had NO problems what so ever.
We also took a trip to Denver in January and it was just as great, prices are amazing!
we flew round trip with 1 large suit case for both of us (booksack/purse is free to carry on) us to share and it cost us $220 TOTAL!
if you are looking for affordable flights with no frills (no free drink/snack...but you can purchase in flight) then its totally the way to go.

Made that round trip a month ago. Very reliable. Saturday to Saturday. Direct flights, even with baggage fees & seat selections, were more affordable than driving & connecting flights. Savings = 2 lift tickets. I'd do it again.
