Nope per the press release. We beat them in 1983 in New Orleans. That was in the Sugar Bowl basketball tournament if I remember correctly.

    Thanks 84. Thought so,

It was nice beating the legendary hired gun of the coaching profession. Jud Heathcote was the MSU coach. Back to back nights, Cajuns beat two legendary coaches.

Tournaments like that would never happen today...two known power programs coming into a non power conference team's back yard with the reputation they'd probably take the big boys down. Perfect example of how the landscape of college basketball has changed and the challenges the non power conference teams face.

It's easy to confuse the two. Kind of like Louisiana and Louisiana State.

Kansas State beat a Bo Lamar team in an early 70's NCAA tournament game. As others have said, we beat the Kansas Jayhawks in GrAylin WArner's senior year in New Orleans. Kansas blew out the Cajuns in Lawrence during the Jessie Evans years.

That's was Robert Lee's first year.

Correct. Orien Greene broke his wrist in the first eight minutes of the game.

Just wondering if we are second choice in our region by kids after the p5s, Memphis, and Houston? We need 2k more at our games and we would really be rock in'!

I thought it was impossible to get an SEC team to play at a mid-majors home court

It is still universally impossible... If you don't try.

No but the first SEC team to travel to SFA in their 94 year history doesn't exactly make it a burning success story. There is also considerable background between the two coaches.

I don't think anyone believes it to be impossible but it certainly isn't something that any mid-major is going to do with any consistency.

But it's happening over and over every year. So while a challenge, it's happening. Just not here.

Where is it happening over and over every year? I would like to know their secret. Proximity would be the one factor I can think of.
