Thread: Louisiana Summer Assignments Updates

  1. UL Baseball Louisiana Summer Assignments Updates

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team has 13 players headed out on summer assignments in preparation for the 2019 season, head coach Tony Robichaux announced on Wednesday.

Both Hayden Cantrelle and Todd Lott will make their Cape Cod League debuts this summer as Cantrelle joins the Falmouth Commodores and Lott heads to the Wareham Gatemen.

The Ragin' Cajuns will send a pair of players to the Alaska Baseball League as Brennan Breaux and Grant Cox will spend the summer with the Anchorage Bucs.

Louisiana has five players tabbed to compete in the Texas Collegiate League led by O'Neal Lochridge with the Victoria Generals. Michael Leaumont, Jacob Norman, Haden Erbe and Jimmy Dobrash will suit up for the Acadiana Cane Cutters.

Connor Dupuy and Blake Faecher are headed to the MINK League to join the Nevada Griffins, while Luke Coker and Jansen Fontenot round out the players out on assignment for the summer as the pair will play for the Western Nebraska Pioneers of the Expedition League.

I definitely plan to catch a few games in Anchorage this summer. Maybe I would make the Cajun Players feel a little more at home if I show up in my UL gear.

I can't wait to see the batting averages of all of these guys later in the summer. I'll bet that they will all be well-improved.

I'll try to make a trip to Gering, NE. About 3 hours from Denver and I have some clients out that way. Definitely will be sporting the Cajuns gear. The Pioneers have a Tech player this summer, too. Doubt I'll run into any Necksters out there.

I found Cantrelle on the roster for the Falmouth Commodores, but don't see Todd Lott's name on the roster for the Wareham Gatemen anymore. Anyone know why?

    That didnt take long:

Hayden Cantrelle refused to let an early error set the tone on opening day. In his next time up, the Louisiana-Lafayette rising sophomore slugged a two-run triple, highlighting a pivotal six-run third inning in Falmouth's 10-4 win at McKeon Park against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.

Cantrelle was charged with an error after missing a scalding slapper at shortstop in the bottom of the first in which Harbor Hawks (0-1) would eventually take a 1-0 lead. When he came up for his next at-bat in the top of the third inning, Cantrelle redeemed himself and then some. His triple was part of a 2 for 3 night where he also reached on a walk and added three RBIs. Cantrelle helped turn a pair of double-plays in a productive effort for Falmouth (1-0).

"Baseball's really a game where you have to flush it every pitch," Cantrelle said. "I'm just going with the flow of the game and using my next at bats as an opportunity to better what I did previously."

Head Coach Jeff Trundy said he liked what he saw out of his nine-hole hitter.

"He's a gamer," Trundy said. "I've only been around him a few days, but I really like his competitiveness and the way he plays."

Todd Lott batted in the #9 position for Hyannis in that game and finished 0-3.

Dobash has pitched 3 innings for the cane cutters with 3 k's no walks and 1 hit and a 0.00 era.

Lamont, Erbe and Norman are all struggling so far for the cutters

Erbe can't seem to find the strikezone walking 12 people in 8 innings but batters don't seem to be hitting either since he has 15 strikeouts. Interesting
