Thread: Glasco, Cajuns looking forward to the Postseason

  1. UL Softball Glasco, Cajuns looking forward to the Postseason

It's tough for first-year UL softball coach Gerry Glasco sometimes.

Much like many of the program's diehards, sure he knows the uphill climb this year's version of the Ragin' Cajuns have faced since day one.

He also is used to winning and expects to win no matter how big the obstacles happen to be.

Do y'all think we are a 2 seed lock?

I do think the committee will view them as a top-32 club.

Really won't matter if it's "2" or "3" but yes.

2 seed was a lock before the conference tournament.

I don't think Playing TX St twice hurt our RPI.

Worse case: As a 3rd you could be facing the 17th best team in the country.

Best case: As a 2nd seed you could be facing the 48th best team in the country.

Or close to what you are saying, it could be the difference between facing the 32nd or 33rd ranked teams.

Friday afternoon game against McNeese in BR. It just seems too easy.

That's right Turb. There is a huge difference BT a 2 and 3.

No. Softball ranks 1-16. They don't place 17-64 to balance regionals.

If you're a 20+ RPI you'll be a "2" paired with most likely another at large or pretty good AQ around the 30+s. It's better to be a "2" but it's really a crap shoot at that point. In the regionals where UL has hosted (if I remember correctly) the "2 and 3" have been the likes of Stanford and Baylor, MIss State and Texas, Baylor and Miss State??, Texas and TAMU.

Regardless of what they say, they will not put the number 16th 17th, 18th and 19 ranked teams in the same regional. Ever.

They will not put the 64th best team as a 2 seed. They balance.

What they don't do, is announce.

Of course they won't. A #19 ranked team is not a 4 seed in a regional. But they don't also put #17 in the #16 regional with #33 as well.

Which is why in my post I said "## best team" and not seed.

They use feel good logic of the moment to seed and often mis-seed.

What they indeed do is stack the tournament in favor of the SEC. Seems like they control the NCAA in softball.

More like ESPN (owned by ABC), who owns SEC Network who benefits from regionals awarded to SEC sites. ESPN pays heavily to NCAA for broadcast rights, so indirectly (if not directly) it is to NCAA's best interests to cater to ESPN to keep the money flowing in. Hence, the nickname given to NCAA by all but the SEC fans is ESPNCAA. NCAA is headed by former LSU Chancellor Emmerich, which is another inroad for the SEC/ESPN/NCAA cartel.

It is a wonder any teams other than P5 get into the tournament, much less host a regional. But sometimes SEC/ESPN/NCAA will offer up a P5 sacrifice in softball to preserve the sanctity of SEC regional host berths - Minnesota got royally screwed last year so SEC could get Ole Miss as host site.
