I find it incredibly disappointing we dont have a 3rd option at catcher that can be trusted to hit better than McKinnon's anemic .150.... Dude cant touch a curve and is late on Fastballs....AND....No one on bench or Freshman being redshirted is better than this?
That freshman third option on the catcher depth chart tore his shoulder. We had three healthy catchers to start. Two became injured. Snakebit.

He was a more defensive option at catcher too. Not recruited for his offense. Faecher can catch but not good enough to use unless McKinnon gets injured.

He did get up to .200, but slid back down that hill over the last week, or two. the fact we cannot solve an 85 mph lefty on Friday night is disturbing. Amateur baseball, I guess.

Bottom of the fifth inning, first batter, Hibberler at bat. Got a hit and on stealing second Monica came up to throw him out and he twisted his knee.

Seems like 4 innings in the field and 2 at bats in the first game would have to be once of the smallest time playing disqualifications for a medical redshirt if that would happen.

Academics are taken into consideration also if I'm not mistaken. As long as he's on course to graduate it will not be an issue

Unless you compare it to Softball, who lost DJ, Aleah Creighton, and Alyssa Denham right before their season even started—TWO top hitters (one a favorite for NATIONAL player of the year), and their top pitcher!! I applaud Coach Glasco for NEVER using this as an excuse for any drop-off this year!! jmo

Two first team All-Americans and top pitcher on softball leaving voluntarily - baseball loss not even in same ballpark (pun intended).

Although the post was "biggest combo loss in Cajun history..."... and softball did experience monumental player losses... I don't see the circumstances anywhere comparable. But again... the poster making the observation did not qualify the loss circumstances in his statement.

    J1M,
we will have to agree to disagree (with respect) about which personnel loss was more monumental to the respective national power programs. I assume you feel the original post meant (biggest combo loss in "Cajun Baseball" history. I admit I am more of a softball fan than baseball fan, but I am a huge Ragin Cajun fan.

Not sure why any comparison should be made at all.

Softball lost the heart of the team. Baseball lost Monica, an above average player at best last year.

    End of analysis.

The reason you are correct has to do with system continuity and philosophy launch.

It is much easier to insert a replacement player with system continuity.

I would rather have him come back strong next year with Gunner and the rest of the returning cast, maybe either Hogan or Lee will return, and hopefully a new hitting coach and we make a big run. Also, I really hope this is the last season we have to watch McKinnon behind the plate.
I kind of doubt we're getting a new pitching coach. Without mentioning RP he said he's not giving up on the team or coaches that have received criticism by fans.

Also today he said he's a baseball fan. He's going to watch spring training for 60 days the first year after he retires or gets fired. He's absolutely feeling the pressure.

Go to Scottsdale, rather than Grapefruit League.

I stopped listening today after the 11th Gunner is gone lament.
