With just a little effort, they may be able to set a new record next season!!! LOL!!!

Not true. All other things being equal ... If the Cajuns win out at home (4-0) and take 2/3 at Texas State, this places them at #48 in the current RPI rankings. Winning out (7-0) puts them at #40.

Of course, all other things will not necessarily be equal ... some will depend on what the teams around the Cajuns in the rankings do ... as well as the Cajuns' opponents and opponents' opponents.

6-1 with an RPI of 48 puts us in a good spot if we were to win a couple of games in the tournament, right?

It puts us in the conversation. A #48 RPI without a conference title is never in a good spot. But the better that record is vs. the RPI Top 50 ...

I'm assuming (maybe foolishly) that getting to the final would move us closer to 43-45 RPI - hopefully with 8 wins against top-50

0-30 vs rpi 150+ Zero wins against a cupcake schedule. You'd think they would find an acorn or two.

And somehow they are not last in the RPI this year.

How bad has your schedule have to be to have nine wins and be under a team that has not won a game in 2 years

This nuance has to be based on their opponents opponents.

Delaware St has played 9 games against teams with an RPI of less than 250. That's how you end up with a worse RPI than a team that hasn't won a game.

Well, we are at 48 now. Never would've thought we'd be in this conversation just a few weeks ago.

They don't post on the weekend (they gotta go home sometime). They have been posting late Sunday nights (around 10 p.m.) the last few weeks since baseball normally finishes by 5 p.m. on Sunday.

On an aside note, they are still classifying the South Alabama games as conference games. Once they notice their error, I expect it will make a slight difference in the Cajun's score.

These teams are helping us also:
LSU winning and staying in top 50 helps. If LA tech beats Southern Miss again, LA Tech will move into top 50 and help us. Also, Southeastern just moved into top 100.

We do not want Louisiana Tech to be in competition with the Cajuns for an at-large bid. Go USM!

Not an error. For purposes of NCAA selection committee analysis and RPI calculations (NC RPI, NC SOS, etc.), the South Alabama games are considered conference games and these contribute to the Cajuns' conference record when being evaluated by the selection committee. As such, the Cajuns are 16-12 in conference play in the eyes of the committee.

Conference postseason tournament games also contribute to this conference record.
