They report capital expenditures as a budget number for christ's sake. It's sky-high while they're refurbing and building stuff, but what happens when that stops? How do they explain that one? They cut their budget by 40%?

If capital expenditures are paid in cash(money raised), it should be part of the budget. If they are paid by borrowing money, it should not be included as part of the budget.

According to these NCAA Statistics from fiscal year 2016-17 we were 2nd to last in the SBC in budget. Of course ULM is last. Not good perception wise. But.....according to the equity in sports numbers that the University must submit to the feds on an annual basis, when you look at actual football operating budgets we are 2nd in the SBC behind S. Alabama by only something like 100,000 dollars. However, there is no question that we must continue to increase our budget. RCAF and Season ticket sales are the main answers there.....

Need the economy to pick up a bit, then have a great year for season football ticket sales and start to have a big RCAF push for this year.... also we need to do more branding and really start pushing the brand west into Houston

So in the sports that actually generate capital we do pretty well. Our problem is we've got to overcome systemic problems.

I believe ASU includes private funding.....so if we included RCAF it would be apples v apples.

There way make sense. It is 100% part of Athletic Dept spending.

Also there is a huge advantage to funch $$$$$ for private Universities. Few students pay full tuition but athletes cost are calculated at full maximums costs AND all AF donations can be part of budget. They dont have State nosing into their business.

Tulane essentially gets a $15-20 million head start without actually having any more real athletic operations $$$$ spent vs UL

Can ULMs ticket sales be correct??? They are not a viable division 1 athletic department if so.

We need to keep pushing the envelope and grow it by another 100% in the next 5 years. Still plenty of potential and opportunities out there.

Win, get more money in the RCAF, send Maggard to push through a student fee, and we will be sitting pretty budget wise.

Most states assess student fees to help subsidize athletics but not Louisiana. Does the university need legislative approval to do this?

Vote for a fee that gradually ramps up over in 4-5 years. Cost to all Junior-Seniors would be near 0. Plus student ensure all student athletes voting for it and you should get a majority easily.

Student fee needs to be a % of tuition AND not a fixed $ amount.........so fee adjust naturally upwards with inflation. Otherwise in 10-15 years you are stuck with an underfunded financial model.

When they do the vote...........that semester UL needs to have a 1/4 credit continuous education very cheap web class all us old farts can enroll into, (make it official so we are all students with ID) and stuff the ballot box with a few hundred positive votes. 100% legal....all students. None of that Democrat illegal voting crap. Clean, legit vote sort of.
