UL Softball Glasco elated over his future at UL

When Gerry Glasco met last Friday's noon deadline to accept the position as UL's next head softball coach, he knew he had some work to do.

No, not teaching hitters how to hit home runs.

He had to convince an angry and upset bunch of Ragin' Cajuns softball players that the program was still viable as a national championship contender after the firing of Michael Lotief on Nov. 1.

Best thing I read. I don't want to know what happened. That's not going to do me any good.

You're not winning over the team by telling them that the university did the right thing. He's approaching this exactly the right way.

Certainly is confident. Probably got to look at some game video.

WOW! I was still getting my tickets as I support the programs at UL. Coaches will come and go, support the program and the players. I am in, Two seats, please! I am pumped about the hitting being the same(similar) and pitching coaches coming in and the facility comparisons. Over 400 text and emails over the past 4 or so days is awesome, baby!

I liked the part of the video where he recognized the value of doubles and singles. True hitting coach. Same thing with pitching. Staff is on their way.

This hire was a home run. This man not only has accolades from junior high to the SEC, but he also has connections from California to Florida. Maggard did his homework when he brought Coach Glasco to Lafayette.

Fanatic. I think he might be the one. He seems selfless and yet confident. I hope he has the time to mold.

Completely agree. Very interested to see who the rest of the coaching staff will be.

Well we may not have gotten Alyson but Alyson got us what appears to be the next best thing.

Time will tell, but like everyone else, I like everything I read. If he proves to be what we hope he'll be, this speaks very very well of Maggard's abilities to not only spot coaching talent, but to find the right fit for our program.

Gerry Glasco is a breath of fresh air, emminently qualified and exhibits genuine and positive passion. Did I mention he's a breath of fresh air?

Imagine what it'll be like to practice and play without all the drama, threats, and circle of confidence crap.

And I almost forgot, without the foul and insulting language either. We'll find out soon enough what kind of coach he is and what the players think of him.

I know he's undefeated, but the school hit a grand slam right here.
