ORLANDO – On the basketball court, Elfrid Payton has become a master of the triple-double, racking up four of them this season and seven for his career – both records in Orlando Magic history.
Off the court, Payton has spent much of his free time racking up triple-doubles of a different, but equally important kind. Whether it's greeting terminally ill children to brighten their days, giving away backpacks to kids in need or simply volunteering his time and money, Payton has proven himself to be a major difference-maker in the Central Florida community.
Payton's generous efforts off the court earned him the prestigious Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award for the 2016-17 season. A night after his spectacular 14-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist performance in the Magic's 115-87 drubbing of the Detroit Pistons, Payton was presented with the DeVos Community Enrichment Award at the 27th annual Orlando Magic Youth Foundation (OMYF) Black Tie & Tennies Gala held at the Amway Center.
We've had some wonderful ambassadors in pro sports. Right now EP and Lucroy the highest profiled.
Just as an FYI, EP 1 rebound short of another triple double.
2 minutes left until 4th quarter. Elfrid is 1 point and 3 rebounds from another triple double
Eta he did get another triple double
Filthy alley oop from Payton to Gordon
EP is changing his jersey number from number 4 back to number 2.
Former Cajuns Elfrid Payton is now ready to show how much he learned from immersing himself in watching two of the best guards in the league finish at the rim.
I didn't watch the game and he's not mentioned in the recap, but it looks like Payton had a nice game in the Magic's season-opening win over the Heat.

9 assists
13 Points and 3 rebounds and 9 assists, not a bad night, also 6-12 shooting from the field and 1-1 from 3 point range. the negatives were 0-2 from the FT line and 4 turnovers.
3 steals too.
I may try to make it to the Magic/Pelicans game on the 30th.
Any Ragin' Roadies visiting Dave Dixon Drive tonight?
He is not playing
