Do not schedule Liberty until people forget they were ever FBS.

I'm sorry to burst bubbles here, but dinosaurs definitely existed 2000 years ago....

Well Bear, if one is to believe that major changes are coming to college football played at the G5 level (count me in this group), then the question is will we be better-positioned to take maximum advantage of those changes as a member of the Sunbelt or as an independent? I honestly see those as the two most likely circumstances at this point.

I hope our AD is thinking outside the box versus our old way of thinking which was, we can't do that here.

As for the logic of, we shouldn't do something because others haven't tried it, well, that almost sounds un-American to me.

Our AD knows exactly what is going on in the world of College Football. That is why I am committed enough to greatly enhance my donations. Otherwise I wouldn't have let the door hit me in the ___ on the way out for good.

Powerful statement coming from you Bear. Lots of respect for your knowledge of our program and the college football landscape in general.

Aside from winning, any thoughts on your part as to how to best position ourselves for the coming changes?

The Alden Report nails it. We also still have people helping us with big connections.... I'll have more to say soon but not winning in football is killing us right now.

Wise words there by Bear. That is why we need to finish the season stronger than we started it.

Liberty hired Baylor's AD. It sickens me that a "Christian" university would hire the AD of another "Christian" university that was run out of town after a horrendous record of turning a blind eye to sexual assault, drug use, violence, etc. How do those things fit with the teachings of Christ?
Liberty can go f-off. Baylor too.

IMHO the 2020 schedule for the first four games looks positive. September is usually a mixed bag anyway. This one sets up better than most Septembers at Cajun Field. Plus playing Miss State at Superdome is new twist to kick off 2020 season, capturing more attention than normal. All seems fan friendly, especially if we return to winning football beginning now. That might be too much to ask, but not too much to expect.

Get your hotel rooms early for that one. It's a very busy weekend in New Orleans.

Speaking of phrases... someone left me an odd post rating. They gave me a "red dot"... but then added "Good For You". That seemed odd. They give me a "red dot"... but put "GFY". Why would they tell me "Good For You"... under a red dot?

That was their entire comment... GFY - obviously the acronym for "Good For You" - but they left no username so that I could thank them for the encouraging words.

Years ago, Poppa Falwell spoke of Liberty being the next Notre Dame.

    http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1...otball-program

What if this was about broadcast abilities? What if the $25 million included production equipment for Cajun Field and other Sunbelt members?

    Yeah, its Wikipedia, but

"The LFSN (Liberty Flames Sports Network) broadcasts Liberty Flames and men's basketball games to select television stations in Virginia. Liberty Flames football, on the other hand, can be seen in up to 90 million households throughout the contiguous 48 states and the Anchorage, Alaska area.

The LFSN's nationwide availability of Flames football on television is due in part of religious television networks and stations having syndication rights to carry them well beyond the Lynchburg/Roanoke media market, especially when not featured on major commercial television networks. The networks include JUCE TV (a unit of the Trinity Broadcasting Network, available on the third digital subchannel of all TBN owned-and-operated stations), The Walk TV, and the Tri-State Christian Television network. All three of those networks are available over-the-air, cable, satellite, as well as on the Roku digital media receiver. In addition, all three channels are also available through the use of free-to-air satellite television equipment. Cable-exclusive children's religious network Kids & Teens TV (Dish Network channel 264) also airs Liberty Flames football."

    Just sayin'.

If you can tap into that market. Apparently they send you all of their money and all you have to do is pray for them. Also you can do pretty much anything shady and you are forgiven. Hell of a business model. You see the house that God bought for Osteen?

I think Liberty's time frame is off by give or take a few billion years but their curriculum is easy to attack and pinpoint because of its consistency.
Actually, we do have a decent idea of what they are teaching. The curriculum in colleges aren't nearly as strict as in high schools, but they still exist. Before a professor teaches a course the syllabus, textbooks, teaching materials, etc. need to be approved by department chairs and state education boards, not to mention oversight from accreditation organizations. This institutional oversight keeps professors from going rogue and teaching wackadoodle things, even if they hold some wackadoodle beliefs.

Again, the problem with Liberty is that their wackadoodle beliefs are institutionalized. It is hard to overstate just how wackadoodle it is to say the earth is only 6,000 years old and how it ruins so much of their credibility as a university.

That is wackadoodle. Nearly as wackadoodle as teaching there are more than two genders.

    Wackadoodle is fun to type.
