Default D1 Baseball Top 100 Programs, Cajuns #26

    #26

2015 Rank: 30. Over the course of his 23 years in Lafayette, Tony Robichaux has built the Ragin' Cajuns into one of the nation's premier mid-majors. The program had been to just four regionals in its history before the Robichaux era, but they've made 12 trips since, highlighted by a run to the 2000 College World Series. The Cajuns have made four super regionals, including back-to-back trips in 2014-15. Robichaux still shakes his head at what could have been in 2014, when his squad went 58-10 and earned a national seed but fell to Ole Miss in a compelling super regional. That letdown aside, it's been a great half-decade for the Cajuns, which won 40-plus games four years in a row and made it to four straight regionals. The no-nonsense Robichaux has fostered a culture of personal responsibility and a blue-collar work ethic, and that's a big part of the program's success. The Cajuns also have one of college baseball's most unique atmospheres, with a passionate fan base packing a sparkling, newly renovated ballpark. The $16 million Tigue Moore Field renovation project was a major step forward for a program with serious momentum.

"The no-nonsense Robichaux has fostered a culture of personal responsibility and a blue-collar work ethic . . ."

We need all of our coaches (and future coaches) to follow this example.

Awesome! So refreshing to read something positive when we have a dumpster fire across the street.

Pure respect. I could argue about the ranking not being high enough but heck, its all good. Pleased to see. Best part is we moved up couple spots from last year and thats pretty damn cool.

They won a national championship. They should be at least that high. If we had won a national Championship in either 2000 or 2014 or both. Then we would have been alot higher than 17 I think.

It's a shame we can never get this kind of momentum going in football and MBB, the two sports that actually move the needle in college athletics.

We don't have the stigma of a historically ____ poor program to recruit to. Baseball has been very good for 40 years.
