I don't understand all the negatives we won the fricken game. Yes we have work to do but it was the first game of the season and we won. Some people act like we are the Alabama of the sunbelt and SLC is garbage. They have a very talented team and would play this way with just about any belt team. Yes I would like to have watch a dominate Cajun victory but I can assure you no one left until the on side kick was recovered very entertaining game and we won. Everyone ask for improvements so the school added fireworks and people complain we won. Lets see what adjustments are made for Tulsa before we hang the team and Hud out to dry. One more thing about SLC they are a state school and as much as I like talking smack with my friends from other schools their fans were very friendly and respectable even after a heartbreaking loss. We pride ourselves on being great host lets continue to do that. There are only 4 teams in the belt that won this weekend and we are one of them lets take our victory and move on to Tulsa. I don't even know why that bell keeps being rung on third down because it apparently doesn't intimidate anybody except our defense.
On a positive note at least Davis looked decent. His dropbacks actually looked like an actual quarterback's and he actually seems to somewhat go through progressions instead of locking on to one receiver. These things have been severly lacking these past few years.

We needed two kickoffs returned for touchdowns and two turnovers to barely beat Southeastern. Are you kidding me? I can't even put this on the offense because they scored enough for us to comfortably win, this is all on the defense. We better get good and we better get good fast. At this rate, I fully expect us to lose to Grambling next year.
    This!

    I'm with you

However, I totally get "in game" frustrations and don't consider them lock down opinions.

UL has a lot of bright spots and work spots.

Well said, especially about bashing other schools and fans, however, being somewhat a hypocrite when I say this, can't get on board with Mickey neese and loly poly. Those schools and media have bashed us for years.

Questions: this is a NCAA/FCS rule that really irks me, transfer from FBS to FCS without having to sit out a year. I wonder how many FBS transfers were on SLUs team?

Quarterback (South Carolina) and left tackle (LSU). Not sure of the rest.

I don't know the numbers but it appears FBS transfers played a big role in last night's game for SELA.

They were hungry and wanted the win and darned near pulled it off. Hats off to 'em. It'll be interesting to see how they fare the rest of the season.

As for the Cajuns, seems like everything was reversed as to what we expected. Expected exceptional defense and that obviously didn't happen. Offense was the big question mark and look what happened! QB and running backs seem to be solid, moreso the latter, but qb should only improve with playing time.

Fix the defense, fast, and we may have a decent squad.

Just went and looked at their FB roster, 42 players come from transfers from other FBS, colleges, CC , Jr Colleges from all over the US. It amazes me how players come to know LA FCS schools. Give those schools Athletics Departments a "Hats Off" for recruiting. Just curious. Now, will they be players who knows.

Is ESPN the only spot for highlights? I found a total of 2 viddys there, both were of SELA touchdowns.

They're bitter about calling us Louisiana so this is how they stick it to us now.

I wrote it as a joke, but you never know what might come out of Mark "The Blamer" Hudspeth's pie hole.

Wrong, it was not a high school game. I came to that conclusion after I could not listen to the radio broadcast anymore because the LOUD speakers were drowning out my earbuds that were cranked up to 90% in my ears. Its ridiculousness loud. 90% of high schools you cant even hear the announcer

Poor band only played for about 10 minutes of the game towards the end of the game.

If there would not have been the Anthony Jennings experiment last year we would not be in the "need to get the quarterback experience" situation now. If you score over 50 points you should win the game. We needed not one but two returns for touchdown to win the game. Defense defense defense.

Plenty of negatives to espouse, but I'll say that I thought the Oline played well. I thought Davis' accuracy on deep throws was encouraging. (His intermediate to short passing game was actually very poor and he needs to learn to throw a touch pass when the situation calls for it). Obviously encouraged by our KO and punt returners. Still very high on our WR corps, although Jacquet was brutal last night. Ragas and Mitchell showed their potential as well.

Feels like I post this every year, but you "a win is a win" people either don't know ____ about football, or are casual fans that care more about socializing than watching and analyzing what's happening on the field. Either way, spare the rest of us from your drivel. Several here put in tons of time, effort, money, support, emotion, and sacrifice for this program to open a season like that. No, it's not ok. No, it wasn't "well SLU came to win". STOP.

I never bought into the saying that there is no such thing as an ugly win. Last night was the textbook definition of that.

Davis is improved but needs work
    Running game looked pretty good
    Calais is a man

This has the making of a typical Hud team. Score like a video game and just hope for a couple of stops on defense to win the game.

We don't win 6 games this year. I'd be thrilled with 6 but I just don't see it.

.......Well most things have been covered but in the punt situation, I have been scared of ours being blocked and rushed......this caused the non hang time on a great sky high kicker,,,,,, what really irked me were the 2touchbacks on great end over Knicks that should have been downed inside 3 yard line....gave up about 40 yards of field position....llI was very impressed with SLU's offense....huge line that stayed with blocks....a Great running back....QBs with wheels and accurate throwers and glad that some were dropped although there were some great catches!!!

Did anyone else notice that the clock did not move during the two point attempt and subsequent run back? It stayed at 14 seconds the entire play. I know because my wife was watching the clock instead of the game. She was ready to go.

Game clock doesn't run on a PAT.

Do we still win that game with Jennings at QB? I feel he would have thrown a pick at some critical point. Davis was not anything special and he certainly missed a few throws, but he didn't turn it over.

Should we even be talking about whether one pick would have decided the game against SLfreakinU?
