UL Football Re: SBC - OOC Football Schedules

Here is an impossible -jmo- truth.

If the SBC were to sweep the OC schedule ... the rankings would still credit the SEC with the toughest schedule.

I see where ULM does not play any non-conference home games and will play 4 home conference games. I thought to remain D1 each team must play at least 11 home games over a 2 year stretch. So ULM must play 7 home games in 2011 to remain D1 eligible and I don't see that happening.

Good. Maybe they'll be forced to drop down to 1AA and back to the Southland (wishful thinking).

I am thinking that the schedule posted above is not accurate and they will play 1 non-conference home game.

As in the past, Arkansas @ Little Rock might be their designated home game...

All I see is yet another oppurtunity to go 6-6... 3 of the last 4 years the OOC schedule has prevented UL from having a winning record.

I think Troy and Middle Tennessee both have easiest OOC schedules of all the SBC. Maybe they figured out something that the rest of the conference should.

Why? With the exception of Middle they are all about the same. Ole Miss will be worse than last year, Georgia will be better, Okie State will be worse and Ohio will be an even match up. We have a shot at 2 of the BCS games on our schedule if we play up to our capabilities. I would be happy with that every year. Two traditionally beatable BCS foes.

While I agree that we should not play as many "money" games as we do, I truly think that UL has prevented UL from having a winning record, not necessarily the schedule. JMO

I think we have the middle to upper toughest OOC schedule... but more importantly... this list doesn't really support the UL prevasive whine that we are the only ones with a tough OOC schedule. I get a chuckle out of everyone thinking we have a lot of options. When you are ranked over 80... and the rest of your conference joins you in that over 80... you have a pretty tough time of an "easy" OOC schedule. I know everyone thinks we are going to "upset" the 51st ranked team in the nation. I think it's more like, "we came within a touchdown of the 51st ranked team, didn't get paid much for it, no one really cared, and now we have an L in the W/L column that is exactly the same font as all of the others and counts just the same towards bowl eligibility.

What I would much prefer seeing out of UL (initially the current supporters... which will eventually force the hand of the management)... is to stop from this day forward all talk of making the road we travel less scary. It is time to make the road all others travel fear our being on it.

UL... as a support people... have the worst attitude combination I've ever seen. On one hand, we are either unwilling or incapable of comprehending what it takes to be successful... we whine about it incessantly... but we allow our managers and their surrogates to defend the unspectacular outcomes with the old line of defense... "where's your money and support"?

To me... it is like living in a small town back in the 1950s and having one movie theater. When you go and ask the movie theater owner why he doesn't upgrade his theater, get better movies and sell better treats... he first tells you how the guys in the big cities get all of that stuff... but you point to other comparable towns or less and prove they have better... and then he says it's because you won't step up and support him. You tell him that you keep coming to the movies because this is your town and you have hopes that he will improve, but in order for him to advance, he will need to get your neighbors to come as well... and that will require him acting first. He puts out a sign and says "movie theater now accepting higher price movie tickets". Following the next Friday night, the local radio guy... a friend and partly paid employee of the theatre... gets on the air and says "the customers in this town suck... the guy who runs the theater raised ticket prices and you guys didn't come."

The bottom line... a thousand times over... is that the manager of the theater has to go get a loan. He has to revamp the theater, get the latest movies, put exceptional treats in the snack counter, hire a ticket person with a smile, help old ladies to their seats (she just might donate new fine seats to the theater... you dumb ___ manager... if you only showed her some attention in "that" way)... and once the buzz starts about how much you are a committed participant in the finer things of the community... you will not believe what you will get in return.

But... as long as you don't... our OOC schedule will always look like an uphill climb... and very likely will end our season as a mountain... once again... that we cannot cross.

Oh... and Geaux Cajuns you stupid movie theater owner!

Why? because Ole Miss is headed in the right direction. Sure, they lost some of their primary playmakers but they have Houston Nutt who can recruit and their program is viewed as making its way up the SEC ranks. They will likely have quality candidates there to fill in. Oklahoma State is the same. They are clearly on their way up. Sure, they don't have their primary skill guys that were very talented but don't think for a minute that they don't have very talented guys sitting there waiting. Georgia will, at the very least, be extremely fast and athletic and looks like they are returning a lot of people. Ohio is a very even matchup and I think that will be a toss up.

I could make a case for other BCS schools on those schedules that have issues. FIU has Maryland, Texas A&M and Pitt on the road. A&M hasn't been the same in years and Maryland is one of the WORST BCS schools out there. They've been beaten by MTSU the last 3 years I believe. You could go on and on. Hey, if you think that North Texas' schedule is tough please explain. Rice and Army? Are you really afraid of them? Then you have Clemson and Kansas State? Yeah, that's an OOC schedule that scares me there.

Troy has two BCS schools, both of which could be taken down if they played well. UAB and Bowling Green? Please tell me what about these schedules that scares you?

I do not put Ole Miss in the same "beatable BCS schools" bunch as I would South Carolina, Maryland, Rutgers (home), Kansas State, South Florida etc...
