Cajuns at #19. We knew it would be borderline and it really shouldn't be a surprise that the Cajuns aren't hosting.

Minnesota at #12 and James Madison at #13 are much more troublesome.
That is incorrect. Per the NCAA RPI, we finished at #16.

Okay that is odd...... NCAA website updated the date and I refreshed it a couple of times and showed us at #19 on games through May 14th. Five minutes later it now shows us at #16. Apparently I caught it mid update.

So Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Utah at 17, 18, & 19 get the nod over Minnesota at #11, James Madison at #13, and Louisiana at #16.

This committee is going to get hammered badly and rightfully so. There are already letters flying off to committee members letting them know what they think about the selections.

It isn't that unusual for a #16 rpi team not to host but Minnesota not hosting is just baffling.

You did not pay attention to my pre-calculated RPI rankings for positions 13->20 that I released on Saturday (the purpose of this very thread). Shame on you. :-) I nailed all of them.

    Up to your usual standards.

We have come to expect nothing less.

    Nice job.

So the committee favored lower teams from conferences with multiple hosts already. WOW. Really screwed the dominate teams from lower rated conferences (remember Big 10 is a lower rated softball conference). If you want softball to grow, reward everyone that has earned it. The selection committee needs to do their homework and become informed about all teams up for consideration. We seem to battle these misconceptions about our program every year. UL has an up hill battle already. The NCAA selection committee does not need to further stack the deck against us.

I made my opinion known in the selection show thread ... and on the radio a little over an hour ago. I thought what they did to Minnesota was awful.

Minnesota finished #11 in the RPI rankings. Since the 64 team format was established ... this is the highest RPI ranking to not earn a national seed. In fact, this is the only year when three of the RPI Top 16 missed a national seed.

Prior to the 2017 selections, the last ten years saw ...

    (4) seasons where all RPI Top 16 teams were national seeds
    (4) seasons where only one RPI Top 16 team missed a national seed
    (2) seasons where two RPI Top 16 teams missed a national seed

This only proves that you have a lot of RPI educating work to do.

It's sad that the ones who should know everything about the RPI and its meaning seemingly know nothing.

So take it a step further......the teams that are gifted are the home teams and get the hosting advantage....the screwed get to travel and are disadvantaged as travelers......ergo a skewed possible result of advancing to the sups.......it stinks and if the committee's choices do advance they are now substantiated......so Geaux Cajuns!!!

Just a note showing how dominant this team was. We scored 442 runs, 8.18/game and our opponents scored 120 runs, 2.2/game....My take on this is, they, the committee should look at it and say, "this team don't belong in the SBC". If not for the cancelled games they could have gone 51-6, best in the nation. My numbers could be a little off.

The softball selection committee this year believed that quality softball is only played in a few areas of the country. RPI, other statistics, actual games played and other overwhelming contradictory facts be damned. Why can't the NCAA put knowledgeable softball people on the selection committee?

What year did the RPI start?
