They ran into Matt Wallner in the last few innings. That guy is a player.

That's two Cajun batters who failed to get the bunt down this inning.
That safety squeeze... it was hit so hard that if it was fair, Izzy woulda been a dead duck at the plate on that one also.

Yep. As are conference wins vs week day wins. Of course, winning all of the games is even better.

So Brian, yet another RPI question: how does it work when two teams that we've played, play each other? I think it helps us more when USM beats ltur, or is better for our rpi if ltur beats them?

It would benefit us more so for Southern Miss to win, as we have played them 3 times and La Tech only once at this point. We do play La Tech again.
Now the committee always look at records against top 25, 50, and so on, but that's to for off to worry about now. So from an RPI stand point, to answer your question, the answer is So Miss.

In pregame interview Robe sounded very agitated that we couldn't close the deal with LTUR because we left so many winning opportunities on the pond. In his post game interview he sounded just as frustrated. Said we'll need to do better with the more explosive offenses in this league.

Think I'll catch a little EauxZone in a couple of minutes.

And another RPI tidbit... Since we don't play GA State this year in conference, we like to see their opponents win in conference games since we do play all of their conference opponents.

Brian, what about winless Columbia? I'm guessing since we play Tulane twice, we would still like the greenies to sweep that Columbia series this weekend. You had mentioned winless Columbia bringing down our OOWP. I'll hope they can beat non-Cajun opponents.

Generally, the team you want to win is the team that has the heaviest weighting on your schedule. But this is not always the case. I will leave it as an exercise to the readers to determine such edge cases.

For those that are somewhat math averse, simply pull for the heavier weighted team ... in this case Southern Mississippi.

Yes, we still want Tulane to win ... for the long term. At the moment, it would help the Cajuns' RPI if Columbia wins. The purpose of that prior mention was to note that both Columbia (Southern Mississippi opponent) and Brown (Nicholls opponent) are affecting the Cajuns' OOWP in an adverse way because they are both winless. Soon, there will be more weighting (Columbia) when Tulane becomes a Cajun opponent.

I've seen some really well hit home runs at the Tigue over the years and last night's right field shot by Sensly is certainly in my top 5. It was a 'jaw dropper".
