UL Baseball Robichaux: There Will Be No Excuses

As speculation swirls over when renovations to M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field will be completed enough for his team to play at home, Louisiana baseball coach Tony Robichaux made one thing clear.

His team will be ready to play when the season begins.

"All good teams have to win on the road, and we are prepared to do that both physically and mentally. There will be no excuses. We know what it is, and we had time to prepare for it. We will take it on as a personal and professional challenge. You run towards a professional challenge and not away from it."

I mean does it get better than this?? Robichaux is the best! Geaux Cajuns

To be completely honest with u....who the hell would want to be a coach? At any level...unless u win like saban, u are vulnerable. U can't fart without the media finding out. U must be perfect, no matter what u do. No matter how much good you do for kids u are constantly reminded of the one bad time. It truely is a thankless job.

We should hate mediocre, coaches who fail at their third mission, educating the athlete and developing their moral compass being the first two. You cannot have the third without the first two, and you cannot get a pass by having the first two and failing in the third.

Yep and when people stop caring is when you have a real issue.

I'm sure it is. But it could also be a liability issue for the host facility. Not all of these at bats were lost bc of construction. There were several pitchers shut down this fall due to worlkload issues from the summer

Thanks. I thought i heard that previously..... Is it legal to have other people not affiliated with team pitch for practices? Maybe former players like bama does in football?

I'm sure there are some liability considerations, but at the same time for fan day, old players come back and face our pitchers, but never a pitcher coming back to face our hitters.

Problem is, find me a guy on the street that can throw more than 3 outs of quality pitching. So who are you going to have come pitch? I don't know if you have thrown a baseball as hard as you can several times lately, but your arm begins to hurt before long, especially when it is not in shape. So even former players probably couldn't or wouldn't do it. It's not the same as getting a field manager to catch bull pens. So it's a tough issue to figure out.
