Attn. MAT, I said our country is great, greater now than ever, and our best days are ahead of us. Thank God we have transcended segregation and a segregated military and many other shortcomings. If segregationists take insult then so be it. The greatest among us transcend the prevailing evils of their time, the greatest among us were too often in the minority and reviled by the majority but triumphed in spite of it. There are real lessons to learn from our nation's history. I stand by my claim that we are blessed to be in the greatest nation, at the most fortunate time, and embrace the opportunity to build an even brighter future. I have faith in America and my children. I serve God and respect my country and I don't answer to you.
Btw, I'm not the religious type, but I'm pretty sure god is a conservative. (Surely isn't running around calling people racist and the like). But that's just the rumor I hear..
I do dislike removing individual means of expression. I could care less who calls me a name on here. I can take up for myself. I have no issue with people giving MAT grief for what he posts. He puts himself out there like a pinata... and as long as he doesn't cry about people taking swings at him... I think it works. He makes if very clear what he wants to be thought of on here... and people can take it or leave it.
Again... I do not want anyone censored. Even Hawk... the vile one... should be allowed to exercise his demons on here. I'm not afraid. I do fear censorship. It will eventually require blood shedding. It absolutely always does.
Virtually everything that has been done in the name of 'progress' since 1964, has degraded the lives of Americans of all races. Our working poor have been legislated out of any possibility of improving their lot in life by such well meaning legislation as child labor laws, minimum wage laws, occupational health and safety laws, worker's compensation laws and other similar legislation. Our public assistance programs universally discourage responsible behavior by the poor, thus locking generations of people in a seemingly inescapable trap.
The middle class, largely a product of the post WWI boom, hardened in the fire of the Depression, annealed by the blood of heroes in WWII, is now endangered by the entitlement society that taxes them disproportionately to support those who have been taught not to work.
As another poster said previously, every measure of civilized society has declined immeasurably in my lifetime; largely as a result of misguided attempts by government to 'help' people.
If you think this is "better", then you are hopelessly deluded.
My dad was in the first integrated Ranger battalion in the US Army in 1945. My boss at my first job after college owed his life 50 times over to Red Tailed P-51 Mustangs flown by black airmen escorting his B-24 Liberator from Sicily through the Brunner Pass en route to bombing Germany. The largely Asian Hawaii National Guard fought alongside the Texas National Guard, composed largely of Scots and Hispanics, in Italy, and was the most decorated unit in WWII. The Navaho code talkers were instrumental in our victory in the Pacific.
Was it perfect, not at all. But it was the beginning of an integrated military, which by the time I served in 1969-1972 was indeed colorblind.
Amen to that, VOb. My grandpa was in the Pacific with the Army. My wife's grandpa was a POW in Germany. Saved his whole POW group by being able to understand french language and thwart the Germans from executing them. That generation will never be duplicated. Ever. Thanks for your service...
I am NOT a Rush person. I don't listen nor care for him. However, one quote I was told he said years ago is the absolute truth. The purpose of war is to break things and kill people.
When this country gets backed into a corner, we best get over the PC mess or America is toast. We are still engaged in a PC non declared war since 9/11. It will be a hell of a blow on US soil before we get the intestinal fortitude the greatest generation had. 9/11 didn't do it so wrap your mind around that. And our enemies know this, it's why we are getting little things here and there. Mentally wearing us down the whole time and we're too busy watching Kim and her big butt or waiting on the newest I Phone to realize it.
