Isn't that EXACTLY what happened when Johnson Street High was rechristened as SLII??

The State of Louisiana's Board of Trustees with full rights and privileges' as written in the Constitution as "rights" not reserved for the Legislature and not vested in the Board of Regents voted 17-1 through the to change the name of the school.

The difference in this State is no one wanted the name, they just suddenly didn't want UL to have it even though Flagship was never an issue.

P.S. - I agree with you about the envy thing. Which is why you guys really should pull Turdbine aside and tell him to let it go on blaming LSU for the name thing nearly 20 years after the legislature definitively settled what you can call yourselves.

    Call it a Ragervention...

First, Turbine, thank you for your class in responding to this McNeese/LSU guest on your site. You have shown much dignity in your use of facts, rather than opinions about the political maneuvering of LSU and McNeese to hold back UL from being the best university it can be. I was at UL in 1984 when we were legally known as Louisiana, and was sickened by the backhandedness and venom from LSU and the lesser-achieving schools in this state. At the time I was taking computer classes since UL had a nationally recognized computer class. It has forever soured me against LSU. And I went to school there for two years.

This guest should know that you, Turbine, was the founder and continuing moderator of this board and could have banned him at any time. But you have too much class for that. However, the "Turdbine" comment has completely obviated any credibility this UL - hater has. I will also add that I have now found a single argument he has made to be convincing in any way, shape or form.

As an earlier poster note, this guest should file suit if he is that convinced of his position. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is a registered trademark and any fool, except this guest, has to be aware this was fully vetted by UL's legal rep's before submitting the paperwork for trademarking.

Also, Turbine, thank you for installing the "ignore" function so I do not have to listen to this pompous windbag anymore. Thank goodness I do know he is not representative to the real McNeese fans I know.

Actually, "Ragin Cajuns" is the federally registered Trade Mark.

    Nobody takes exception to that.

Floating the idea that UL@L was able to Trademark "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns" is where you go off the reservation, speaking of convincing arguments.

Texas has more than "a" flagship.

On the subject of flagships Im only addressing your phobia and fears and I am not suggesting the State add flagship schools.

In Texas all these Systems have a Flagship.

    - University of Houston System
    University of North Texas System
    University of Texas System
    Texas A&M University System
    Texas Tech University System

UL always had a dual role but was never considered a high school.

John McNeese graduated from Lake Charles High and enrolled at UL to further his education.

Before 1921 UL also taught teachers.

Perhaps the HS reference was premature. I recall reading that it was in the early 1900s that SLII raised the entrance requirements to having completed the 6th grade.

    Johnston Street Middle School, then?

In any event...in all fairness...it's not how you start but how you finish that matters...

Congratulations on how far you've come. You're now the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette.

Here's to a hard fought and injury free game

After having played, and having worked as a sportswriter a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I've learned that predicting how the oblong ball will bounce is not the smartest thing in the world

The best thing, beyond getting to see what our offense could be with Jennings and McGuire...is shutting up those damn pokes. *wink*

Hopefully this was the last McNeese week ever. We need to go the same route as the Big 10 and quit scheduling FCS programs.

Unfortunately our leadership doesn't know how to produce revenue outside of scheduling games against Southern and McNeese State. And of course a good number of our fans still enjoy playing McNeese State as evident Saturday.

I would never play any instate school who has publicly or privately gone against our advancement as a university. That eliminates everyone.
