Default Texas A&M, Houston Methodist Hospital to train "Physicianeers" at TMC

Just something interesting for UL's College of Engineering to think about.

Texas A&M and Houston Methodist Hospital plan to create a new engineering medical school program in Houston called EnMed with an aim to educate a new kind of doctor ... who will invent transformational technology for health care. EnMed will be part of Texas A&M College of Medicine's M.D. program and the College of Engineering. Students will earn a master's degree or Ph.D. in engineering plus an M.D.

For years now I have suggested UL get into an area of research not touched by any other school in the state.

    Bloodless surgery.

One avenue would be universal plasma volume expanders that carry lots of oxygen that ambulances can carry.

Seems like once it was started Acadian Ambulance would be a big donor.
