    And a socialist to boot.

Really? So now this is only about the fact that he didn't stand up? And the fact that he didn't stand up means America is somehow not a great nation anymore?

    C'mon man.

Religion can be used in different manners as you stated, but worship can extend beyond traditional religions and into political philosophy and ideology. Many of the concerns you expressed about organized religion can be said about those that adhere to strict or ridged adherence to climate control beliefs, animal treatment and humanist ideology. I wonder if you are as concerned about the government and elected officials actively calling for legislation to prosecute individuals and businesses that to don't adhere to their data on climate control and bow down at the altars of their climate God?

I would have had a better chance of maintaining the context of my posts... even though you were one of the abusers of the statement of fact.

I was educated by liberal hippies, overseas, through 4th grade. I was a good student, but I came to the states at least two years ahead of everyone else in history, science, math and english... only to have to dumb back down with the public school system. I'm not going to apologize for my patriotic slant. I've never had a problem with any human acting out on the stage given them to act out upon. When they try to jackhammer the stage itself... I have a problem with it. If you cannot respect the stage... I suggest you exit stage left. It really isn't that harsh of a concept.
My use of "our" and "your" would have been more accurately typed as "one's". Certainly not casting stones. I get that your info on slave attitudes is factual. My statement was just that we should not use that as a justification, which you did not. My family held no slaves either but as an American, I feel the need to address the actions of our nation and not sweep them under the rug or attempt to justify them.
BUT when statements like that are used in textbooks, it smacks of justification and a general downplaying of a heinous crime. Maybe I'm cynical but I think the Texas use of "workers" instead of slave and "immigration" instead of forced slave trade was intentional and agenda driven.
And zoomzoom is right, but the "inmates" of who he speaks arent the students but the parents, and local and state officials who feel the need to interject themselves into the educational process.

Religion has no place in the political spectrum and should be seen as a point of ridicule inside it. If you invoke god while trying to pass a law...you should be run out of Washington DC covered in tar and feathers. Sadly...this country has allowed it to permeate the fabric of politics and have then used it to steer and engineer elections. Religion and politics are a fools errand.

Your climate soapbox you stood on was paid for by companies that produce harsh chemicals that do cause pollution of the environment...and they thank you for your patronage. Little do you realize you are doing their work for them. At the same time, the tree hugger crowds are also doing the work of very rich people who want something else, or they don't and they just want people like you to bring up their straw man arguments and do their dirty work for them.

How is this for irony if ironies, "Under God" was inserted during the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower (at his request) I believe.

What is the irony? Dwight D. Eisenhower's mom was a Jehovah's Witness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_Stover_Eisenhower

Okay, I got it. So you have great concerns about organized religion but you see no problems with the worshipers of the organized climate control God being forced down the throats of the citizens of the this country by the threats of legal prosecution from the Government? This in spite of questionable data and corrupted scientific studies, but that God is accepted without question.

Chevron and Shell think you are doing the Lord's work. It's all about money...and until you realize that...you will be their pawn. Climate Control is a bank account that BOTH sides withdraw from frequently. As are most of the sticking points that divide this country. Don't you want to save the Polar Bears?

That's the crux of the problem. Religion and Government will never stop battling over control...and neither should have one bit of it.

Not to beat a dead horse, what data is questionable and what studies are corrupted? The ones that dont confirm your worldview? The ones that make you uncomfortable? Or all of them? All data and all scientific studies?

I won't get into a detailed discussion about abortion with any particular individual, because those in favor of abortion will probably never change their mind. I can only feel sorry and pray for them because they can't (or won't) admit that a fetus is indeed a living being. Why would a woman need an abortion if the fetus was not a living being? Only living things have the ability to grow. Inanimate objects don't grow! All human life deserves to be protected, from the time of conception until natural death.

Those that don't agree are simply wrong!

Yep. Been that way since our beginning, and will be until our end. Why we have to stay ever vigilant.
