    Couple of truths. Most people love the name, then want to know what's a Ragin'Cajun.

    The next thing is that pepper. I like him. Hardly anyone else does. I have zero problem with putting his remains in a gumbeaux.

    There will never be a perfect Ragin'Cajun mascot or spirit leader the Catahoula hounds is also used by Centanary Gents. We would look poorly using the hounds.

    Besides the man behind the mask, "a" secret to the success ofthe Fabulous Cajun Chicken was its long snout.

    All he had to do was change direction and the FCC was automatically highly animated.

    More people like the pepper than you may think.

    That is too bad. They are good looking dogs with an excellent Louisiana lineage.

    Catahoula = taken
    Pelican = taken
    Gator = taken
    Bulldog = taken

    I would still like to see us stake out our own ground. We have made our way without much help from anyone. In fact, we have had forces well beyond our control working against our interests for decades. I like the fact that our uniqueness speaks to that. We don't need to copy from anyone else. We can say "We are Louisiana, and all the rest of you aren't."

    I always wondered what was the problem with Crawfish. That is the food item related to Cajuns.

    Yeah, I kind of like that too....but I fear that a large crawfish mascot would turn out looking like a giant lobster, lol.

    We had a crawfish mascot in the early '80's. It was a student walking around in a crawfish suit. Her head and face and front were clearly visible in the foam suit. It was pretty bad.

    Isn't there a university in California whose moniker/mascot is the Banana Slugs?

    Crayfish are prey, bait, and scavengers. Hardly a worthy mascot.

    So what is the standard here? If it doesn't have menacing teeth and/or claws then it isn't worthy of consideration? I think if we are looking for something to convey our Cajun-ness, then most people would go to crawfish right away. The problem that I see with it is that we proved that it was hard to put a crawfish on the field in any meaningful way back in the '80s.

    It appears that we may be able to agree on at least one thing: There is no clear consensus. Good points were made on a number of fronts, but we are no closer to agreement than we were when we started. It is easy to see why the school hasn't been able to settle on a suitable mascot.

    As is the norm there are pros and cons to most good ideas.

    Even so some ideas are a natural fit and are preexisting while others would have to be created from scratch.

    You mean a scavenger like the American Bald Eagle per Ben Franklin. Most people have no clue about the biology of a crawfish except they look pretty scary. I do remember how dumb the mascot was for a crawfish was so maybe tough sell.

    Those of you on Facebook might have seen my logo that I've used for years. A Fleur-des-les over the outline of the state of Louisiana. I don't know how many times I have started to send to T-Joe and coaches. Someone tell me how to copy to this tread and I'll try to post it.

    Logos are not the real problem, IMO. Our mascot, on the other hand........

    Figured easiest way was to change my avatar, which I have. Logo is simple would show up well on helmet, batting hats, caps, uniforms and sports wear.

    Thoughts?
