    Sticking with a basic 2:1 ratio, I predict a 4-2 win.

Looked at their schedule and they are a solid club. Give up an average of 6 runs on Friday and have been somewhat like UL in hot or not weekends. Got swept in the CUSA tournament with 6 runs against both games. If our pitching can do anything close to the SBC tournament, we should be able to scratch out a tough win.

Top notch program. Coach been there for years and VERY successful. Multiple CWS appearances with a national championship. Solid club.

    UL Baseball Re: Rice

I will talk about Rice a bit on Scott's show tomorrow (5:15ish).

But they have some excellent arms. Some folks might remember 3B Matt Fox from the '99 Rice Super Regional team that beat the Cajuns 2/3 in the Astrodome. Lefty Blake Fox (Matt's second cousin) was a first team All-American last season (12-0, 1.46) that won 21 consecutive games to begin his career, before losing this past April. But Fox has always been the Saturday guy until he moved to the Sunday role earlier in the year. I can talk about his stuff later. If the Cajuns face Rice twice (as they did in the 2010 Austin regional), it is likely that they would face Fox.

Righty Jordan Stephens in the Friday guy. He is All-american caliber with power stuff and impressive control. He was the 2013 Eugene regional MVP, but was lost to injury three weeks into the 2014 season. He had TJ surgery and was back throwing in late February hitting 94 mph in his first start. The Cajuns will likely face Stephens Friday.

Power righty Jon Duplantier (draft eligible sophomore estimated to be top two rounds) is mid 90's, but has had shoulder problems all season and has only recently (early May) been throwing in the pen. Rice was setup to have quite a rotation before Duplantier went down. Doubtful we see him, but you never know.

Ditman is a very capable closer much depth on this staff a slew of quality arms.

Offensively, probably similar to South Alabama (sans the team speed), except they hit a little better. Not much power or team speed. John Clay Reeves is their big stick with the first five in the order being solid. Defensively, they are down a bit from past seasons.

The Cajuns will need to play their best baseball of the year to win. But the game is winnable. I am sure that Coach Wayne Graham is going to remind his team about how #2 seeded Rice was defeated by #3 seeded UL 1-0 in the Austin regional. Will not be able to surprise them.

    Brian

Yeah I'm aware of their history, very storied. Let me rephrase, what is their current situation like?

The box scores from this season only tell so much. Any of our Houston alumni keep up with them at all?

    Edit: NM. Thanks Brian.
