That remains to be seen. Let's see how good he is when he is fielding a team full of walk on's.

Watts and new AD Ingram have a press conference at 4 pm. All indications are that UAB will be bringing back football.

So does this mean all those players who transferred to South AL will have to go back?

Now our only hope is if they go to 16. Play the hand you are dealt.

    With all due respect....____ them.

And their self imposed death penalty.

And ____ cusa for putting up with that ____ long enough to give them a shot to pull their act together.

And ____ bama for starting all this in the first place.

I want to have that same mentality. But I can't help but feel good for them and what they have accomplished. It totally kills any hopes we had of getting out of the Sun Belt...but it's a feel good story of a mid major fighting back against the big bad football powerhouse and actually surviving. I'm gonna be right back with you when they make the movie out of this whole episode.

Yeah...call me in two years when they can't get 10,000 to watch them go 0'fer in D1.

If we are sitting here at some point next year with a national ranking playing in front of 34k at Cajun Field for Homecoming, are you gonna care in what POS Conference you reside in at the time?

Me Neither...and neither will the blue chip recruits in the stands.

You won't, and I may not... but the recruits will.

Which in the end will hurt recruiting, hindering the possibility of us being nationally ranked. It's a domino effect that will hurt us in the long run.

Until UAB lines up for a kickoff, it's not a done deal. To override Bear Junior, a lot of political capital has to be in play. But then again, did make the Tide look like jerks.

UAB delayed the inevitable today. Lets see how much of those pledges turns into cash. And can they raise that kind of cash year after year when they can't beat anybody?

    We'll see.

I heard it said somewhere that they hope UAB and their fans aren't the little child who wants to order the adult meal, when the parent knows they won't even finish half of it. I hope they get their ____ together (to quote Daniel Cormier), and they finish the big boy meal.

    Interesting debate.

Fortunately, we have a case study for this. Boise State.

All those years they were kept out of the MWC, they still out recruited the MWC schools for recruits often and even beat out a few PAC-12 schools on kids. It was almost like neither their fans nor their players cared one iota that they were in the lowly WAC and not the MWC.

They just kept kicking tail and taking names.

How do you say on the one hand that we want these players to play here while on the other hand you tell them that our conference is the worst and they really should prefer something else?

It's not a debate. Conference DOES matter to recruits. We have lost recruits based on nothing more than being in the Sun Belt (to CUSA schools), and we will do so again in the future if we stay here. Boise State had some wiggle room and upward mobility because they weren't on the bottom rung. We don't have that luxury. We need to pull ourselves up, and we need to do it yesterday.
