    Default Question for Gone Golfin...

I was wondering how many wins do you think it will take for the Cajuns to be considered as a legitimate at large bid cadidate. I was thinking 30 wins with who we have to play left, that should maybe give us a bump, and then maybe a deep run in the tourney might get us some at large chatter. What do you think?

I am not Gone Golfin but there is no chance even if we sweep the remainder of the season and lose the conference championship game.

No at-large bid this year. Even if we win out in the regular season, you're looking at still a middle of the pack finish in the Belt (around .500). RPI sank too much after losing 6 conference games in a row.

Its win the tournament or bust.

i think that the chance of it snowing next week is better than our chances of being in post season play

Is this thread REALLY about OUR baseball team making post-season play???? How many wins would it take? Ummm.....at least 35, maybe even 40! We aren't even close, dude!

    What is our RPI anyway?

If we win out, we might have a chance at an at-large bid. Record would be 33-21-1. Winning out would mean we swept East Carolina at their place, Western Kentucky at home, two mid-week games at Rice, and UNO at their place.

However, their is one main problem with winning out. We play on the road at East Carolina (3), Rice (2), and UNO (3). Oh yeah, we also play Western Kentucky (3). Pretty much impossible to sweep the next 12 games with 9 on the road.

I can see the future, and it does not include UL being in the regionals this year.

Our goal: a respectable finish so that we have something to build on for next year. That way maybe when LSU is being covered in the super regionals, it won't say "Louisiana Lafayette" next to "Bad losses."

We are at 104. We peaked around 75 after we swept Middle TN. We were left home at 53 in 2006. We are a .500 team with an above average schedule, but not a regional team.

It will take four wins in the Sun Belt Tournament if the Cajuns emerge without a loss in the double elimination bracket play, five wins otherwise ... to earn the automatic bid. :-)

No chance for at-large bid. 30 wins would not be in the ball-park of what is required unless their RPI was in the Top 50 and they had won the regular season title. Both are not even close.

Of course, the Cajuns still have work left to do to qualify for the conference tournament. But I expect they will step up and play well enough down the stretch to qualify.
