Support ACT testing an opportunity for UL to make money?

It's a sign of the economic times. UL is looking for ways to cut costs and apparently searching for new opportunities to make money. But what they did on February 7, has raised a lot of eyebrows.

The University is facing a $4.3 million state-mandated budget cut. On Saturday, high school students arriving at Maxim Doucet Hall to take the ACT were faced with a budget-boosting request.

Parent Nancy Mier heard about the request from her son. "He came and told me he had to pay five dollars and I thought, well I already paid for you to take the ACT, he says they said they didn't know why, just that we all had to pay an extra five dollars," said Mier.
