    Default Matching desks...

A silly question perhaps, but has UL made any steps toward having uniform desks in the classrooms? I always thought it was a bush league look having random mismatched desks (everything from 40 year old wooden desks to new composite desks) not just from building to building, but also within each individual classroom.

Some of those desks were designed for pre-schoolers. As a large person of a rotund nature...desks at UL always were a factor in dropping or finishing a class. No Chemistry II...I can't finish you...your desks are too small.

Not a silly question at all. And this is an area where blame lies not with the admin, IMO, but with our political leadership (or lack of leadership) from both the governor and the legislature. Constant budget cuts to education result on a lack of funds for important academic needs much less the little niceties such as uniform desks. I understand the restrictions that the state constitution puts on flexibility to handle budget shortfalls. But the politicians don't seem inclined to try to propose remedies to that. They probably find it easier to have the constitution to blame than to revise it so that they then have other options available which would require them to make hard and sometimes politically unpopular decisions.
