UL Basketball Comparing Elfrid Payton To Rajon Rondo

"If we look at Rajon Rondo and Elfrid Payton's last year college stats side-by-side, we see right away Payton scored more points per game and dished out more dimes per game. "

I'm a Celtic fan and I've never been a fan of Rondo. A liability on defense, holds the ball too much, and a poor shooter at the free throw line and beyond.

Please don't compare these two, Rondo is garbage.

I agree with that, but he is also getting national coverage and it talks about our university.

Every team needs a player that excels at garbage time.

I would not go as far as to say garbage, a career that he averages 11.1 points per game and 8.3 assists per game, and a career playoff numbers of 14.5 points per game and 9.3 assist per game aint garbage to me. Does he have weaknesses, yes. But if Elfrid plays 7 seasons in the NBA and has similar numbers, I would consider that pretty damn good. I hope he has better FT and 3 point %, because I know his defense will be better.

  8. Default What kind of impact will Elfrid Payton make?

After a great showing in the Orlando Summer League, Payton has Magic fans excited for the future. Payton should be a player to keep an eye on this year and could find himself starting immediately for the Magic. Stats from summer league are often taken with a grain of salt but Payton’s shouldn’t be overlooked.

Default Orlando Magic: How Aaron Gordon, Elfrid Payton Fit

Payton's an interesting case coming out of Louisiana.

A rather unknown player for a long time, he emerged onto the scene this past year, taking the Ragin' Cajuns to the NCAA Tournament in 2014.

Rather than return to school, he saw what his ...

Another one that mention Elfrid - RATING THE ROOKIES, POSITION BY POSITION

    http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2014/0...ls=nbahpsplit1

    Point Guard
    1. Elfrid Payton, Magic
    2. Exum
    3. Marcus Smart, Celtics
    4. Russ Smith, Pelicans
    5. Shabazz Napier, Heat
Summary: Easy call. Payton has the clearest path, by far, to a starting job, under the assumption Victor Oladipo moves to become the full-time shooting guard, and having an opportunity is an obvious edge over others fighting for backup minutes. Smart would similarly greatly benefit if the usual Rajon Rondo trade speculation finally becomes reality now that a successor is in place. Smith could go from No. 47 directly into the New Orleans rotation.

UL Basketball Orlando Magic should start Elfrid Payton

"The Magic shouldn't have to deliberate: Start the kid with the chronic case of bed-head.

They need to start Payton at point guard when the regular season opens and check back in a decade or so for a replacement."

Default Elfrid Payton...Don't ever pinch yaself!

Tonight's opening night, and although Orlando is playing my favorite team, it's a game I could care less if the Pels win.

I want to thank Elfrid for his commitment to his craft and allowing us, UL fans, an opportunity to watch his greatness in person. I have never been this pumped up for a player I have never met.

Elfrid... Don't ever pinch yaself... You made this happen! Good luck tonight and throughout your career.
