I hear Texas Bowl, Papa Johns Bowl, Indy Bowl..... Anything official? A local TV station is not official.

Where are all of Rickey Bustle's personal friends? How about one of you give him a call!! It seems all of the rumor/garbage posters have left for the night. Yeah, we are bowl eligible for 3 out of the last 4 years.

Bowl eligibility doesn't mean crap. I'm sick of constantly being disappointed at our craptastic love affair with mediocrity. I always come into each new season with hope, and i'm tired of investing my emotions in a laughingstock of a program. Robe came here to put us in contention for a national championship, and so did the Lotiefs. Everyone else is just kidding themselves. We're going nowhere and i'm tired of making excuses for why that's ok year after year.

I promise you, a lack of bowl bid for a 6-6 football team didn't cause this. Chill out.

I'm definately not a Jay Walker fan, but his explanation of 6-6 vs. 7-7 should have sobered everyone up re: UL's realistic chances of a bowl bid. As it was, there was simply an in-
ordinate amount of chest thumping this past week egged on by tv reports that made it sound like a done deal. The reality is that 6-6 is a mediocre record, bowl possibility or not.
The willingness to buy in to that being some kind of watershed moment is the kind of thinking that keeps the program in the doldrums. The bar should be set higher.

Very well stated. The market has been flooded with all of these bowls. Jim Rome bangs on that all the time and its so true. We should be aiming to be at least an 7 or 8 win team winning our conference and not settling on some bowl that 25000 people will watch on TV.

That being said it would have been nice to bowl

WooooHOOO we are bowl eligible. When was the last bowl?? Our best record since 1995 is 6-5. Stop making this personal, it is time to turn this into a business. Business sucks at the moment! I am tired of pumping up this program like one of those old reebok high tops. The idea of being mediocre is exhausting to many of us. We have more excuses than crack head trying to become clean.

The are NOT too many bowls unless they fold from lack of support. Bowls are part of our free market economy. Sure some get govt support but so do many private entities. If they can stay finacially viable the will go on. If they cannot, they won't.

The "too many bowls" battle cry by many in the media and fandom is silly.

Another correction, where is the "chestbeating" coming from? Who here was thumping their man boobs over 6 wins? Nobody. We all want and expect better but your post is simply rhetoric. What do you plan to do or suggest to help this program get to that next level?
