    I agree.

UL needs to get out of the habit of naming venues after fans.

UL Basketball Re: Roy Ebron will be inducted into LABC Hall of Fame may 3rd

    ? Which fans vs SPONSORS.

Example: Bruce Foods could own the court for a period of time for so much money. The name of the court would be Bruce Food's Beryl Shipley Court. Sponsor gets rewarded by having their name tied to heroes.

I realize that, but maybe enough people will bring it up and we can make some head way.

i actually thought it was going to happen the last time they repainted the court, which is why we spent four 12 hour days filming the process then it didnt, it was kinda the entire backbone of the film...so yeah that was nice. although it was kinda of a last minute idea which is why i think it fell through

I wasn't thinking fans VS sponsors, as much as I was thinking fans vs the coaches and players who made the program what it is today.

I don't want to disparage any fan who has his or her name on a venue. I just am not a fan of naming sports venues after fans.

If it were not for those FANS those facilities DONT happen, for any future heroes to play in! Having said that I understand what your saying?

I agree that all supporters should be applauded.

With Culotta and tennis you are probably very correct, I have at times heard of non fans making similar donations for the same reason. Still he should be thanked and appreciated.

Moncla should be thanked as well, but the IPF is on the backs of the students. Moncla bought naming rights which made it a temporary money maker.

Tigue Moore I have no idea if he made the stadium possible.

Lamson was just a sports fan, in the last two years of his life I saw him at more J. Kelly Hall led events than Lady Cajuns Softball games. His claim to fame was raising money for academics. His name on a sporting plaza doesn't quite fit for me. But I do think he should be remembered in some way.

For me naming rights should be for coaches and players or as an annual renewable resource when it comes to generating funds.

I do not want to diminish any individual's motivation or stellar efforts.

What about Beryl Shipley Arena? Either Way I think it's a good idea. Also, the women's facility should be J. Kelly Hall Arena at E.K. Long Gym

Shipley Court sounds better to me, and Kim Perrot's jersey needs to hang in the dome next year.

The Monclas put up a lot of the money for the indoor practice facility, thus the well deserved name.

I think they put up a lot of money for the naming right's, but if I'm not mistaken the facility was paid for by a student fee.

Yeah you are right, I stand corrected. I know they have given the program a lot of money before it was cool to do so.
