    Ragin' Cajuns The RCAF

Any news on when the Ragin Cajun Athletic Fund will be kicked off? I wish they'd do it before football season starts, as I would imagine that would yield higher donations (unless we go 8-4 or something).

The dream scenario for me is having some kind of press conference/dinner a week before our first game, where the new baseball stadium plans are announced along with the RCAF kickoff. (followed by an 8-4 season )

Any thoughts on when the best timing would be for announcing this program (asap!)?

I'm not sure on the status of any of these but it would be nice for them to give us, the fans, an update. I can't stand how Gerald Hebert tells us about all of this stuff that we are doing to move forward and better our program, and leaves us hanging for months w/ no updates. We hear about the baseball stadium, the RCAF (which I don't like the name....reminds me too much of TAF. we can think of something better!!) and various other projects and we never see them get done. I am only 25 years old and have very little money to spare but I do plan on donating to whatever athletic foundation we set up. However, I WILL NOT donate until I see progress on things that we have been promised.

I suspect it will be announced in conjunction with the football season ticket drive planned for July. That also coincides with the new president taking over.

I think that name is set in stone. I don't mind it. At least it's not the CAF.

There is nothing wrong with the RCAF acronym. Very many athletic funds around the country are named this way, not just LSU's. Also, don't wait for results to give money if you are willing to donate. The reason the results aren't complete is because money is just what they need. Have faith that good things are ahead. I have faith...have had it all my life and that's why I'm still here. I am far from wealthy and need to see result before I give money away. Their are plenty of "fans" w/ a lot more money than me. When Gerald Hebert shows me that he is making things happen with the money that he receives then I will give what I can. As of now I have heard nothing but empty promises. I see no plans on the stadium, a football stadium that says "AJUN CAJUNS" and is full of mold, and only rumors of their actually being a RCAF in place. I need to see results!!

Personally, I've always liked CAFE - Cajun Athletic Fund for Excellence.

    But I don't give a:

    hoot in h____,
    two good ____s,
    or
    a flying ____

    what we call it

as long as we FINALLY start one g___d____t!!!

I'm pretty much tired on waiting on this thing. My small single A high school in a village of less than 1000 people has a damn athletic foundation. Why the hell does it take this university so long to finally figure out how to put one together. If I remember correctly, it only took a few months and a few favors to get it started.

    Dear Young Sir,
As per your inference on Gerald Hebert and the promises, please do try to visit the indoor facility (football and basketball) and the new and renovated strength and Conditioning facility, as well as the Football locker room, training room, equipment facility and soon to be the new field turf on the football field! All of these are completed or near completion as we speak! Also, the baseball facility will be renovated or a new one will be constructed in the near future! Upon this decision, softball will be moved to the baseball facility and if not, more renovations to their facility will commence with a new locker room to be constructed at the the present site! This is to be determined very soon!
In other words, get your check ready and it is very nice to know that young people are very interested with the progress of our university! Thank you and all together! Go Cajuns!

My problem is I haven't developed patience yet.

The reason I brought all of this up is because like most of you, I'm frustrated that we haven't announced anything yet. From reading this board, these are the reasons...

    1. When Joe Savioe takes over, then all the announcements will occur so that the new administration will be bringing in these new projects.

    2. Wait until a few weeks before football season to build excitement for athletics in general.

It makes sense to have T-Joe announce all of these great things in a grandiose press conference. I could live with that. Also, we could stand to build up some excitement (and money) for our program right before a pivitol year for our football team.

I can only hope that the delays in the RCAF announcement is due to the previously stated reasons, and not due to incompetence on the part of our administration.

I heard from some people at the softball game that basically everything is setup, just waiting for T-Joe to take office. Then everything will start rolling along.

I also renewed my football tickets a while back. Heard there would be a big push for football season ticket sales this year. Anyone know when this push will be.

It is my understanding also that the announcements will come after Dr. S takes over. A lot of idle promises were made under Dr. A and many people will no longer contribute to anything promoted under his name. Well, that is all about to change. Announcements from our new Associate AD will be made under our new President and AD the changes we have longed for all this time will be set forth in a strategic plan over the next couple of years. Scott Farmer said we need to position UL for inclusion in the next round of conference reallignment. We cannot be left out. That includes not onlly facility improvements but winning as well. These are exciting times for UL athletics and the overall impact this will bring to the university. Athletics is UL's "window to the world". Dr. A never got it. Dr. S does.

BTW, Dr. A is to step down after graduation. I assume graduation is in a week or so. Does anyone know when the formal inauguration of Dr. S will take place?

Graduation is May 24. Fiscal year ends June 30. Dr. A will be done on that day. T-Joe's first day is July 1.

Absolutely! Gerald has done Yeoman's work. We are blessed to have him at UL. Just think what he could do if he had a staff working with him???
