I'm not sure why people think the idea of limiting ones property rights are new. It's been going on since the inception of the country. If we are going to go straight Libertarian lets get rid of all regulation, let restaurants serve spoiled food, discriminate, let's allow child porn. After all, the market will work itself out eventually.

And accusing someone of being racist is just as troubling as damaging as our ability to move forward as racism.

Tell that to the hedge fund managers. They salivate when they here Libertarian ideas. No regulation...wolves begin to circle.

    C'mon, Zee, its sarcasm.

Dude holds progressivism responsible for this kid going to jail. I would think most on this board (myself included) think this kid, if guilty, should go to jail. Most on this board (with a few exceptions like myself) would not consider themselves progressive. So how would we reconcile the general thought this kid should go to jail with the less than progressive ideologies on this board, when johnnyusa3000 said it is progressivism that will put him in jail?

johnnyusa3000 also said, "Obama likes you guys. Your guns will be illegal one day. He will like your philosophy of legality being the most important thing. Your private health care will be illegal too. It will be GAME OVER for you when you are denied treatment."

Really, johnnyusa3000? Really, dude? You're talking to a board of fairly conservative people. You really think they need convincing Obama is gonna take their guns and private health insurance? Son, most of these cats on this board were _____ing about Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale when Ron Paul wasn't a twinkle in your daddy's eye.

Beyond Hawk and myself, you really ain't gonna find too many liberals on this board (I think Hawk is pretty liberal with some libertarian tendencies...or at least not conservative).

Zee, I didn't bring up Obama. I didn't bring up health care. Somebody else did. I was just trying to point out the inconsistency of somebody's argument with sarcasm.

And while it may not be a nice day, it definitely is a prolific day.

I managed to rankle Zee's AND Hawk's cockles. With the same post.

I like to think of myself as a member of the Bull Moose party. Liberal when it needs to be, conservative when it needs to be. And my cockles weren't rankled...only slightly ruffled.

But you got to give me credit.

While perfectly unintentional, it was probably the first time on this board that one statement offended two pretty disparate viewpoints such as yours and Zee's.

And the funny thing is, I am way inclined to agree with prevailing sentiments on this board regarding whether narcotics or whatever you want to call them should be legal or illegal.
