Thread: Soto's dreams come true

  1. UL Softball Soto sparking Lady Cajuns' run to World Series

UL For the past two weeks, University of Louisiana second baseman Vanessa Soto has spent the better part of the time discounting the significance of the achievements unfolding before her.

First, there was Soto's .538 average and five RBIs during the Ragin' Cajuns undefeated run through the Baton Rouge regional complete with a 6-3 victory over No. 9 national seed LSU, where Soto spent the first three years of her career.

"It didn't have anything to do with the fact that you're playing LSU," Soto said. "I was just trying to help my teammates. I could have gone 0-for the entire weekend and my teammates had my back."

A week later, Soto was back at it again, going 5-for-11 with a pair of homers and three RBIs, to help UL-Lafayette advance to its fifth Women's College World Series, taking a third and deciding game 4-0 at No. 8 seed Houston.

    The rest of the story

Just cant leave LSU out of this can you? dude LSU should not even be mentioned on this page today with all that Cajun fans have to be thankful for.

Yet, there are entire threads committed only to complaining about LSU or BR.

Did you ever think that this makes Cajun fans look petty, envious and small?

Just a thought and congrats to the Lady Cajuns on a fine season.

Dude".... my comments regarding Soto cant help but bring back the circumstances surrounding how she came here and how she became a part of this family...

"Dude"... my other comments regarding the "mistake" were on a thread regarding the media coverage of the Cajuns.... "Dude" I stand by those comments as the steady drumb beat is that WE have a civic responsibility to support the "mistake" but when the tables are turned the same logic does not apply....

    "Dude" go away

Soto was dismissed for violating team rules...she was fortuneately given another chance by us...I'm sure the Lotief's would have done the same if one of our own violated team rules.

She(Soto) would have been let back on the Tigress team....hell, another rule violator was allowed back. Saw her on the field bigger than Dallas when we kicked the sh#t out of em a few weeks back.
I believe Ms Soto made one helluva decision. She left the crud behind and became a Cajun.

From what I understand, Yvette did not want to remove either Soto or the other girl fromt the team as it was not clear what rule they violated. The LSU administration put pressure on her to make the move. After they reconsidered, Vanessa had already made here mind to come here.

regardless of opinions, I'm glad she came here. she was a key part in our run to the world series. It's too bad she doesn't have any more eligibility remaining.
