The Astros need to make that push for Luc, they just lost Stassi for 6 weeks, which leaves them with only Alfredo Gonzalez as a backup catcher on the 25 man roster. Gonzalez has never played in a regular season game. They also have 4 other non roster invitees that have never played in a regular season game. They are going to start the season with Castro and only Castro with MLB experience at Catcher. he is a career .237 hitter that hit .211 last year.

Didn't the Astros just re-sign (possibly even to avoid arbitration) Jason Castro? I think they are paying him like $5M a year now. Which I think is dumb, b/c he can't hit worth a ____.

I did read that he worked on his swing in the off-season and was hoping to have more pop now.

Anyway, back to the topic, I don't think the Astros want to pay Luc what he's worth. I'd love to see Luc in Houston, but it ain't happening.

As a Stros fan, I hope you are right about Castro. Just too inconsistent at the plate. Great defensively. I was being a selfish homer...would have loved to see Lucroy at the juice box playing for the local 9.

He's batting .250 (3-12) this spring, with 1HR, and 2RBI. Not great, but for having change his swing in the off-season you gotta start some where.

My peer would not have been able to go if I had not switched and picked up 4 of her shifts. Her thank you to me was the Nolan Ryan ball!

    A couple of interesting things:

    1. The Rangers and Brewers are playing each other tomorrow (Thursday)
    2. Lucroy isn't the only catcher that the Rangers are seriously considering: http://bit.ly/254eiRJ

Depending on the Brewers' asking price (which I've heard for months is pretty high, especially in the futures area), Norris might be the more realistic option. Both guys would likely be significant upgrades over the current catching platoon of Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez.

You can say that about a lot of teams, including Milwaukee and Houston (and pretty much the Cubs too). Fact of the matter is that Texas is his best chance of those mentioned given recent history of success. No?

Yeah just like giving Rangers fans a hard time. According to recent history you are correct. According to this years odds and the future you are probably wrong (except for the Brewers).

The Cubs will be World Series champs in the next 3 years. Big league roster is loaded and farm system is top 5 now that Theo is in charge. One more postseason pitcher and a reliever, Cubs will be the best team in baseball. Weren't even supposed to be "there" yet last season, and almost won 100 games.

No doubting the talent on the Cubs roster, but I just see a huge letdown brewing for Cubs fans. Seems too fitting.

Texas will have a great season, I think.
