Molina could receive $17MM to $18MM a season, Rosenthal writes, and Lucroy would probably receive only a bit less.

Bar is set, Luc should get set for life. May be moving domicile for tax reasons.

Luc in a big slump, only played Saturday this weekend while Ranger's other catcher hit 3 bombs. 🙁

Hope he rights the ship soon. 1-4 last night, 2-3 loss, grounded to short with man on 1st to end game. Has young blood crushing it backing him up, not ideal situation.

Despite finishing the last 3 games 1 for 14, Luc moved his average from .206 to .258. Was over .300 for May until last 3 games.

I was disappointed he didn't get to bat against Danny on Tuesday. They've only gone head to head in two at bats before. Luc was the last out in the 6th then Danny came on in the 7th

Rangers as a team have been struggling at the plate. It's not just Luc.

McCann is two years older and only played 97 games this year. Maybe he just needs help until his contract expires end of 2018. Lucroy and McCann splitting games is a solid backstop. Each would be pushing the other guy hard.

With Beltran leaving, expect Gattis to get more at bats as the regular DH. He could be the third catcher if another guy comes in. Lucroy makes a lot of sense for the Astros.

Today on the pre game show they interviewed him. He sounded perplexed about his future. Talked about beginning to be old at 31.

Baseball players can be productive into their late 30's these days. You just can't do that at catcher for very long. Moving positions is sometimes needed for those years to increase. He likely would not have to be the full time catcher in Houston as he and McCann could split the duties. He could also DH at times as well as play first base. He is a good enough athlete I could see him logging some time in left field if he signed with the Astros. He makes a lot of sense for the Astros and the Astros make sense for him if the money is right. Of course they are saving their money to pay Altuve in a couple of years and they have to pay the bulk of Verlander's salary the next two years so they likely won't break the back for him.

Actually the interest in LuCroy is because they are considering non-tendering Gattis, which would cost them 5m to 6m ayear. Gattis is not a good catcher and LuCroy would be much better RH platoon for McCann. McCann could more rest from behind the plate, while DHing.
