    SLII 1901-1921 Campus 1903 - 04

Convocation Day where the kids from the primary schools came to visit the college campus. The goal was to expose kids to college life and in the process witness and compete in athletic events. For Convocation day 1904 the kids formed a march 1 mile long.

That is freaking awesome. What's his name, and what was his degree? If possible it would be great to see a pic of it.

My grandfather is in the 1904 picture as well. He first graduated in the academic curriculum in 1903 and then stuck around and graduated in the "bidness" curriculum in 1904. He is 5th from the right in the middle row. My sister has that diploma.

What a difference an era makes. Today, graduation is filled with joy and happiness. In the above pictures, they all look like they just attended a funeral. So serious and somber.

I think back then they thought if you smiled at a camera it would steal your soul.

My thoughts was the difference in picture taking back then as opposed to today.
