It won't be as conference champions, but the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns are headed to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with momentum.

The Cajuns (37-18, 19-5) jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings of play and rolled to a 13-3 win over Western Kentucky here Saturday in the regular season finale in front of 2,103 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

But the Cajuns' title hopes were shot down when Troy scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past Middle Tennessee 7-6 to claim the conference title.

The Cajuns wrapped up the No. 2 seed with Saturday's win and will take on Arkansas State at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bowling Green.

"We talked about it earlier that first place was still available when we threw that first pitch," UL coach Tony Robichaux said. "And as long as it's available, we have to fight, we have to scratch.

"It just comes down to a blown save in Little Rock and a blown save in South Alabama. You win 19 games and you finish second, you have to give Troy credit. They were down 6-1 and they came back and won."
